I don't know the history of fires in that area, but if there's fuel, there can be fire.
Many years ago I climbed little san gorgonio peak cross country - straight up the side and remember literally on my hands and knees under dense brush (fuel) in what I guess were animal runs.

air attacks working on the chatsworth fire..no homes lost The smoke is all coming from the back (N) side of the hills now, there are no structures over there.

Switched over from KFI to NBC-MSNBC TV feed.

Yucaipa is just east of Redlands, just a bit further up the 10.
To: webvanca
follow I10 on a map past Redlands. Yucaipa is the beginning of the 'pass area' on the 10.

TV reports location of a suspect vehicle fitting the description of the possible arsonists' vehicle found abandoned with a broken windshield.

Curious - where was it found exactly?

If the state was a person, they should cut up ALL the credit cards, cut everything that isn't absolutely necessary, and get used to the idea that there's not going to be any spending money for quite a while. Since it's CA, who knows what will happen.
A local Sacto TV station last night had a "investigative" report they ballyhooed all day. State workers with cell phones using them for personal calls. One worker ran up a bill of $1700.00 in just one month. That's just one of the problems this state has, and not only doesn't Davis get why we recalled him, he doesn't understand why so many of us are leaving. We won't live long enough to see Calif come back up out of the financial and immigrant muck and mire.

What has changed? I'm here at work in East Los Angeles and the air (outside) has gone orange from smoke. Reminds me of Sunday. I'm inside with the windows and door closed and am feeling the effects: burning eyes, stuffy nose, hard to breathe. Got the Hypo Tears, alergy & asthma meds ready to use after I post this.
Is there a link regarding health issues realted to the fires?

Channel 9 showing houses on fire in RimForest right now.
To: CedarDave
Probably a diversion - I'll bet they are still in the Socal area - waiting for another opportunity.

How do you start fires of this size? Just toss a match? Even as dry as it is, would it not take more than that?
To: Travis McGee
Let me repeat: the Seahawk INSTRUCTOR PILOT who is my neighbor says they CAN and WOULD fly these fire suppression missions, and he can't understand why they have NOT been ordered to do so.Well, I don't know... the military idea of Fire Suppression may be slightly different than what the civilians consider Fire Suppression... could get messy ;0)
CDF has been preparing for this fire for a year. It's currently burning in a horseshoe shape and collapsing on itself which they say is not good, gives it more strength. The houses burning are in what is called Rimcrest.
