[history]
The sicko New Jersey couple who starved their four sons apparently preferred their daughters - allowing them to pig out in front of the boys, authorities said.
While the little girls could be seen frolicking in a small pool behind the family's house in the middle-class Philadelphia suburb of Collingswood in the summer, the tragic skin-and-bones boys were forced to wash their clothes in a bucket on the side of the house and clip the grass with small hand shears, neighbors said.

According to other news reports, the boys were "homeschooled" so there was no real outside notice.

"We have a caseworker who went to a house 38 times in two years, and many of those times, she saw all seven children, and she reported in the case record that those children were all safe, despite the fact that the utilities had been turned off for the last six months, the kitchen doors were locked shut and the four boys were obviously starving." Dear God.

The couple used the system for personal gain. The system used the couple for job security. The children suffered horribly from the arrangement. This applies to gov't schooling too.

One FReeper had a tagline that said...

Your attack badly misses its mark. CPS was there many times - you can only celebrate the success that their involvement has brought to this family, because they were there and they were involved. And this is the result.

Fooling the whole of NJ apparently isn't very difficult, considering who they elect.

It's a miracle that even at this time someone realized something was seriously wrong with the boys. Wonder what set this apart from the rest of the sightings, did the boy after being caught looking for garbage food finally break down and tell them he was starving to death.

This sickens me as much as anything I have heard in a long time. Those ghouls that pass as parents need a stake driven through their hearts.

Did you like the movie? I thought BBT was great but they overplayed his upbringing depravity. The abusive-drunk stepfather was so true to character; a good ole boy who had trouble getting along with any one. The sensitive gay man in the small
small town was believable and well acted. I also liked the warden character.
All in all, I liked the movie but not the ending.

Yes maybe for a healthy 19 year old but this 19 year old was 4 feet tall and 45 pounds. For perspective: My youngset son, who turns 3 on Friday, had his annual checkup last week. 41 inches tall and 38 pounds.

HE WAS THE SIZE OF A SIX YEAR OLD!!! What did you expect him to do, kick their shins??
What is your PROBLEM???

What did you expect him to do, kick their shins??
Even six year olds know how to talk and use the phone! call the cops tell a neighbor stand behind the door with a 2x4 Remember he is the SIZE of a 6 year old he is not a six year old he is 19 you would think at 19 survival would be paramount after seeing other kids his age in the neighborhood and neighbors asking if he's ok if he can rummage for food in a garbage can he can get up enough strength to lift a 2x4 to some ones head.

I'd bet there is some sexual abuse going on here too. It's VERY peculiar that one gender is so favored over another. Obviously boys were not the fair haired sons.

I hear ya there loud and clear my sister, when I saw this on the news I think it was last night, I was so angry at this, unbelievable! what a bunch of animals! may those young men get healthier and strong, God bless them for surviving this horrific ordeal, sometimes I wish we didn't have the 8th amendment (no cruel or unusual punishments) so that these 2 could be tortured for their crimes against these poor, defenseless children
