I suppose it could be switching back & forth, or the stillness might have let some smoke start wafting my way. But yeah. How close are you to the mountain range? I'm ten miles north up the valley floor.

I'm probably 8 miles from the foothills but that 8 miles is covered generously with juniper trees which ignite and burn fast. I noticed a smoke scent last night - I guess the whole SoCal area is beginning to be affected.

You know the air purifier that John and Ken and the others advertise? I bought one in July and, even when we had the heavy smoke for the first two days of Grand Prix, not one hint of smoke was smelled inside the house. I can see why the Pentagon used them after 9-11. The unit is a lifesaver for your lungs.
