You ARES people are awesome! One of my radio guys (that's what I call him) was out helping with animal rescue all day! His group helps our trail races out in the back country (keeps track of runners).

That's the public service stuff that keeps the guys in practice for emergencies. My wife was working an ARES liason with San Diego Sheriff's Department before she applied at work as a dispatcher. Her capable handling of traffic at the air show was a plus in the decision to hire her. She laments not being able to run the emergency services van this evening. She is a real whirlwind at passing messages between Sheriff's radio, amateur radio and the amateur packet net. Alas, she is at a POST training class in preparation to be the dispatcher training officer at her current police department here in Idaho.
