Was back there recently and drove my youngest daughter all over the area including Rim of the World drive. We stayed in Redlands for the night and I drove her up to Date Ave where we lived to see the mountains at night. She was born at Loma Linda Hospital so she is a California native and wanted to look at the whole area.

Just cannot fathom that beautiful area being under siege by the fire. Can still remember the first time that someone pointed out the Arrowhead on the side of the mountains and saw my first snow on San Gorgonio and it came down the mountains the week after we arrived in the Norton AFB area. It was absolutely gorgeous to see the snow from Mount Baldy all the way around the rims of the mountains and down sides of the mountains.

Vowed that day to buy a house with the backyard looking at the mountains which we did in Yucaipa! Brings tears to the eyes to realize that an area this beautiful is under seige because of someone starting the fire. Makes me want to bring back burning at the stake for those two lowlifes that have started this fire!

it is hard to expess in words the beauty of this area. The mountain ranges surrounding this area and the foothills are just so beautiful. That is the main reason I have lived here for 30 years. I just love the pass area. All our old horsebacking riding areas are pretty much inaccessable now due to building and such, but it is still beautiful. I'm with you, nothing prettier than the mountains with snow on um.

Have the same vivid images in my mind when I was called in to pitch the 6th & 7th against Yucaipa High in 1964. Gave up 2 runs and lost the game. (only flaw on my record) LOL.

I simply can't imagine that my old stomping grounds could go up in smoke like this. The "Rim" area has been considered choice for over 45 years. I do think that the fuel below the highway used to be rather sparse and I'm hopeful that if the winds subside, the firestorm can be snuffed prior to leaping the ridgeline. God Hopes.
