How is it now?

The smoke smell is still strong, but I can't see flames on the hills now, and the glow isn't as bright.

The Fire Fighter heroes are setting back fires around Lakeside and around the Cedar fire. KUSI news is the best place for the fire info in the east county. The winds have dropped down a lot and with Santa Ana wind gone and the on shore winds we are looking for buy morning that will help a lot and it should bring in cool moist air.

I am not sure where Jet, OK, is. Norman is about 15 miles south of OKC. Haven't been in a lot of OK since moving here.

I can't see the flames on the mountains anymore with my binoculars. There is no wind either here. Just an eerie quiet. Is the fire going to Santa Clarita and those canyons?

No fire where I am in Okla.

That was a reference to seeing "images" in the smoke on pictures of the fires.

I agree nothing much happens here (thankfully). And you better be wide awake driving Rte 13 - it's like a NASCAR track - it's dangerous driving.

I'm still wondering about the vote that ousted Bill Roth. Tom Crapper (I mean Carper) is the pits. Of course the votes that ousted Bill really aren't on DelMarVa - the peninsula starts below the C&D canal, and below the canal we voted for Bill. But they've got the numbers above the canal.

Ruth Ann Minner used to be a true southern Delaware Democrat (a dixiecrat) more conservative than liberal, I think Carper's influence got to her. But in general I will take a Sussex County Democrat over a New Castle County Republican any day.

The 2 counties of Virginia that make up the lower part of DelMarVA have had a Republican in the House of Delgates for 26 years and a another in the Senate for a goodly number of years as well. I've only lived in Accomack County for 6 months, so I'm not totally sure of all the politics, but I have quickly learned that this is conservative territory - big time. The Dem candidate for the House of Delegates make many of the Northern Delaware Republicans look like Hillary Clinton.

Compared to the Western shore of Maryland, the lower eastern shore counties are more conservative.

In general nothing happens here and most people don't know we even exist, unfortunately those that have discovered us are the problem. I'm hoping those problems stay in Delaware. I moved to Accomack County in part to get away from the northeast liberal mindset that has overtaken Delaware.

Jet is near the Great Salt Plains National Park.

N.W. of Enid maybe 40 miles.

Thank God! I had friends living on Post Hill Rd. They got out with their animals and baby but I don't think the house is standing. It is wierd outside, dark with more falling ash.

Yes...A lot of us are freaked out even if we have not lost our homes. It's just heartbreaking. My In-Laws own three houses in S.Cal....Non of them are directly in danger...But they are worried because they live in Big Bear.

Do we need to wear any breathing apparatus. Or maybe her coffee will send our lungs into a good lung cleansing. Spatoons needed? : )
