Nice to know these illegals were arrested, & nicer if they are also DEPORTED.
The 'bust' of some 250 illegal workers @ a TJ Maxx warehouse (last week) seemed only to result in the illegals losing their jobs. None were arrested. (even tho the article said some were working with phony I.D.'s)

The people arrested were detained at local immigration offices, the official said. If they had no previous criminal record, they were released with notices to appear before immigration judges. And in keeping with their long tradition of obeying the laws, they will, of course, show up for their hearings. < /sarcasm>

Michigan I wonder which stores. If I'm betting money, I'd say Grand Rapids or Traverse City.

300 down, 4,900,700 to go.

I sure hope we release them all on their own recognizance. They'll surely show up for the deportation hearing in several years.
That is Pennsylvania Attorney General Mike Fisher's office. The man who should be governor of the Keystone state, if only he had any charisma at all
Mike Fisher ran the worst campaign one could possibly imagine. From the "Stealth Campaign" technique to the terrible commercials, to not showing up to campaign events, it just couldn't get any worse. What an idiot I felt like organizing people to walk with him in the Columbus Day Parade here on Broad Street, AND HE DIDN'T EVEN SHOW UP! Despite the fact that I worked for his campaign, I had a real delema choosing between him and Krawchuk.

However, the fact that this is a national sweep could indicate some Wal-Mart knowledge. Not necessarily. A national sweep could also mean that they have a national contract with the same cleaning contractor, which wouldn't at all be unusual.

They had better be doing a sweep of Hotel chains for chambermaids then and they should start with Best Western! Half the owners are named Patel (YES, I AM PROFILING and with GOOD REASON!)

The great Wal-mart would drive right over the top of American families and our flag for another 1% profit margin, while pushing Red Chinese products....
It's been common knowledge that Wal-mart has employed illegal aliens for years...

Sounds like the owner of the independent contractor business is to blame! I've seen the way these "cleaning contracts" work, a friend asked me to evaluate the situation for him 20 years ago, when he was thinking about getting into the business.
Some sharpie from a "business brokerage" goes around and gets cleaning contracts from businesses. The sharpie "sells" the contract to an independent contractor for an outrageous fee, then handles billing for them for another outrageous permanent monthly fee. The IC ends up making little or nothing for quite some time. Often, the only way to make it work is to hire illegal aliens, usually the only people duped into buying these "business opportunites" are people who are just barely here legally themselves, they often have connections to find illegals who will do the backbreaking work for nearly nothing. The sharpie who brokers the cleaning contract can pull it away from the IC on the flimsiest of reasons, and surely selling it to another sucker is one of those reasons. Needless to say, I advised my friend not to get involved with this.
In short, somebody unsophisticated enough to fall for the cleaning contract scam is generally going to be unconcerned with immigration law. I do hold the firms who contract with the sharpies responsible, if they just simply hired their own cleaning crews, they would have control over legal immigration status. These are good jobs for people coming off of welfare, and by just handing it off to somebody willing to exploit immigrants and the illegals they know the immigrant will hire, they contribute to the problem of encouraging the penetration of our borders.

The 'bust' of some 250 illegal workers @ a TJ Maxx warehouse (last week) You may be referring to the TJ Maxx wherehouse in Pittston, PA. They hired illegals for their new warehouse. As if that wasn't bad enough the company got all kinds of tax breaks to locate where they did based on the promise that the company would hire at a minimum of $8.50/hour (which PA politicians think is a family supporting wage). Their starting pay is actually $6.50/hour. The politicians are pissed but they never got anything in writing from TJ Maxx.

"Federal officials arrested more than 300 illegal workers at 61 Wal-Mart stores across the country early Thursday morning." "Illegal workers"??? I guess they were under fourteen years old.
