These people (state office holders)are into the process not the result. Most are lawyers and have found out that the longer they draw out the process the more money is wasted and the more money they are able to shift to other lawyers. Just note some of the "law students" that were attacking posters on these boards last week, try to confuse and obfuscate the issues.
Also I would like to add that these people (both Republicans and Democrats)are into power for themselves versus power for the populace. If they can make YOU feel powerless they feel they have done their job.

Addendum:I would like to thanks so many of the posters on this site, such as Pollywog, Uno animo, Ladyliberty. John Huang2, MarMema,--- just to name a very few. I would love to have you guys and gals on my side if I were ever in Terri's shoes.
Also---There is one thing I have found out from taking care of patients like Terri. What you decide when you are in one situation often does not apply when God has placed you in another. The spirit to survive during awful circumstances can remain very strong. Persons in these circumstances often show such will to live it will make you cry.
