It's really sad, metesky. But I feel the same way. In order to respect their wishes, I do not go. I have lived my life long enough to feel quite comfortable at home. Saves money, too. :) Sorry about your neice. They never learn until it's too late.

Thanks for telling us all what kind of person you are. Only a complete jerk-off would refuse to go to his niece's house for this reason. She's better off without you.
