A Florida Vigil for Terri Schiavo will be held outside Woodside Hospice, Pinellas Park, at 1 p.m. this afternoon. If anyone has the exact address, please post.

A 3 p.m. Vigil in front of the White House, Washington, D. C., will be held this afternoon, coordinated by an organization for the disabled. Please make every effort to attend ~ those who cannot, be much in prayer, especially during those hours. Pray God that He yet intervenes ~

If you have time do a search on 'schiavo' on FR, sorted by post time and browse the threads, click on the links. When you are properly informed, you may find that writing things like 'the courts know best' may be a tad embarrassing.

The media has succesfully framed this issue in such a way that the majority of people who are aware of it think that a compassionate husband is trying to relieve his beloved wife's suffering while her parents and a gaggle of religious kooks are trying to keep a warm piece of meat alive because their Sunday school teacher said so. This is simply not the case. For my part, I have a religion, but it did not originate in the Mid-East, so dogma does not drive my position here.

I strongly suggest you become informed on an issue before presuming to offer an opinion. If this is how you typically establish stands on things, you might want to consider the possibility that your temperment is more suited to the Left.

I've seen the video [I recommend 'balloon']. OK - She's in there, there's no question about it. I would have no problem pulling the plug on a body being kept alive w/no brain activity. This is absolutely not the case. She's conscious, but impaired. Extra-legal action is warranted to prevent this senseless murder.

This is the kind of stuff that happens in certain parts of Europe. The elderly are afraid to go to the hospital in some countries, because their children can have them offed against their will, as if being old was some sort of disease. Given that they have socialized medicine, the gov't is only too happy to go along.

It's amazing how the Left can be indifferent to killing someone like Terri, but be leaking milk over a condemned killer about to be executed.

I promise not to curse you! Terri's family (and friends) would be happy to assume the cost of her life if the court would only let her survive. But the court has dictated that water and food be witheld from her. And, by the way, the court is not basing its decision on the cost of caring for Terri; rather, the court buys the husband's argument that "Terri wouldn't want to live this way."

I believe if you read more extensively about this case, you'll come to the same conclusion I did: that Terri is being cruelly starved and deprived of water -- my God, water! Even Jesus on the cross was given a sponge with vinegar on it to quench His thirst! -- because she is disabled. This may be the sickest thing I've ever seen happen in this country in my lifetime.

Please pray for Terri.

Ok. Sorry. Yes she is conscious but Jeb needs to do something straightaway as she has gone without food or water since Oct. 18 at 8AM.

Jeb has the duty to uphold the laws of Florida. He has been notified that a murder is taking place in his state on his watch, to a defensless diabled person. She is being starved and dehydrated against her will, upon the false testimony that she is brain dead and wants to die. She is not either.

Heavenly Father, soon those in Washington will stand Vigil before the White House on behalf of Terri. Whether many or few in number, You know the fear that we have ~ that she will die at the hands of a few, yet so many want her to live ~ not selfishly, for our own purposes, but because she has not had a chance to improve with care. I know it is hard to sift through the bias and the conjecture. There is a lot that just doesn't pass the "smell test".

I think you are wrong for these reasons: Terri has been neglected for many years with the blessings of Judge Greer and others. There is much information out there that she may be the vicitm of a crime , which put her into this condition in the first place.

Her true medical condition is allowed to be falsly represented in court, upon which a death sentance has been handed down to her, for no crime. All we are asking is that there be a criminal invesigation, one which should have happened years ago, but that judge Greer blocked many times.

This is about our judicial system and what we will tolerate as a society . What is the purpose of this government if it is not to also protect the very helpless citizens of this country from the corupt powers of government?

Is there any news? I got my hopes up a bit when the one thread said "Terri's responsive"...but I had hoped they meant today, and that she was so obviously not "dead", even without the feeding tube, that they just couldn't continue to withhold water or food...

There are many people who believe, including docters,lawyers, friends and family ,that her husband Michael was trying to kill her. Much has been said about Terri thinking about divorce right before she had a "mysterious collapse" Docters have tetified that her injuries were consistant with that of stranglation. Thomas More Law cEnter believes this case is similiar to other cases where a spouse was trying to remove the feeding tube of a person they were trying to murder prior to the feeding tube.

It would be a family matter if she had left a living will with clear instructions that prevented this contention from happening. It would also be a family matter if there wasn't enough evidence to indict most people for attempted murder. There is.

Since she did not leave written instructions that would let the doctors determine which side has the right of what Terri herself would want, it is a matter for the courts. The courts are OURS. What they do in our name is our responsibility. We believe that the courts, which are responsible to us and to our Constitution, are assisting Michael Schiavo in murdering his wife. It is reasonable to believe otherwise; many people agree with you. It is not, however, reasonable to expect people who are pro-life to stand aside quietly and let it be done, when they believe that Terri is being murdered.

I do not see this as a fight for Terri. A miracle can save her now, if she is not already gone, but nothing else. At any rate, I am not afraid for her once she is dead; she will have her reward either way. God knows her, loves her, and cares what happens to her. In the long run we don't need to save her--we need to save ourselves from the evil that has taken over the system we're responsible for.

WE are not responsible for miracles, though we can pray for them. We are responsible for what we can actually do for all the other Terris, remembering that we can end up in the same situation ourselves at any time.

There are people all over the country who are having this done to them against their explicit wishes because someone thinks it takes too long (or costs too much) for them to die. I have MY OWN point of view on what I want done in extreme situations, and I'm responsible for making sure my family and doctors are clear on that. WE are all personally responsible for that. But together we are responsible for what is legal in our states. In Florida it is legal to withhold food and water from someone who otherwise would not die and has not explicitly requested that this be done. That needs to be changed. Is it legal in your state to do this? If it is, you need to decide if it matters enough to you that you will actually write letters to your representatives and governors and demand that this be changed.

If what is being done to Terri is reasonable, then it is reasonable to excecute anyone for being expensive. Now that might be a good conservative method for making government smaller and lowering taxes. I don't think I can go for it, however.
