Get Tom Browns Survival Manual......and a good knife. I carry a LM wave tool with a ferconium sparky bar and a small altoids can full of special survival tools and aids. Great training read is "98.6 degress book" on the link below.

Thanks, I have bookmarked that page and will study it later.

I think I have several more knives in the bag but just don't remember them all. The Puma was purchased for $16 in 1965, last time I checked the same one was in the several hundred dollar range.

Back in the 80's people thought I was nuts for keeping an emergency kit. I like having a ranger handbook in it as well and not that I can use it right now, but I also keep a small orphan .22 revolver in it.
