That's okay...The Tribe and the Twins took a 0-0 tie into 14 innings in August. It was one of the most exciting games I ever watched.

I just reviewed the ESPN expert prediction page. 18 ESPN baseball 'experts' made their predictions for all the series outcomes just prior to the postseason. NOT ONE got the World Series matchup correct. Only one of them had the Marlins even advancing out of the NLDS, and even he picked the Cubs over the Marlins. TEN of them had the Red Sox advancing to the World Series, compared to five thinking the Yankees would make it. And finally, seven of them had the Cubs advancing to the World Series.

It all just goes to show you that even the most informed and involved baseball people can't predict this game with any accuracy.

I agree. I HATE the Stankees, but this game represented the first fruits of a new curse against Boston. It's the "Pedro is a punk" curse and it was levied by the gods of the baseball universe for him throwing Zimmer to the ground last Saturday.

That being said, it's almost impossible to watch a game where you hope BOTH teams lose big.

Amazing is an understatement. I was there and it was the most exciting,incredible sporting event I had ever attended. Boone's ball was coming right at us and it seemed as though we knew it was a homer and started celebrating before the folks on the first base line. We had Red Sox fans in front of us and they left so fast alls we saw was a wisp of smoke behind them.

Punk Pedro wanted to complete the game and beat them Yankees on their own turf. His arrogance cost his team the World Series, in my humble opinion.

My voice has left me and I'm still getting goose bumps. What a great evening.

Yep, I was lucky enough to be there. Because of the water main break, we took the Metro Park to Penn Station and then A and D subways to the park. The crowds were great and you could literally feel the excitement building as game time approached.

We were in the loge section, under the upper deck overhang. That ball came right at us and then dipped into the section beneath us but, we could tell that it had enough on it and at first it looked as though it was gonna reach the first couple rows of the upper deck.

Sorry I cant give you the perspective on Millar's HR, I was in the mens room at the time.

One comment about the fans, at least where I was at. Both Yankees and Red Sox fans were respectful with alot of friendly jeering going on. No fights, no cursing or disrespect, just good, fun, busting of chops. It was funny,however, that by the time we noticed, all the Red Sox fans had gotten the heck out of there.

I had a premonition that Boone was going to hit a dinger.

Seriously. On TV they showed that no one was warming up in the bullpen when Mariano was pitching in the 11th and I was like, "What? Either they think it's over when they come up or they're nuts!" I thought about who was coming up and I was just about to call my brother and tell him that Boone was going to hit a dinger. I didn't because I was afraid I'd jinx it.

When he hit the first pitch I couldn't believe what I was seeing at first. And when I saw the ball hit the stands I almost passed out. My wife and daughter were out of town so I was the only one in my house (luckily, because I would have woken them up had they been home) and when I realized what was happening I lost it.

What a game! And to think you were there... I envy you.

That's something you'll remember your whole life. I started watching the game from the beginning. When the Sox starting scoring and were 4 runs ahead, I got panicky. I couldn't continue watching, so I kept flipping back and forth. Luckily, I was watching when Posada got that single and all those runs came in to tie the game. The rest was breathtaking. I was worried that the game might go to 12 or 13 innings and then all Joe had left were White, Contreras and Weaver in the bullpen. I wasn't comfortable knowing any of those three might have to come in.
Well, thank goodness for Aaron Boone. I never thought he would get a hit---nevermind a homer off Wakefield.

What a miracle!

My biggest pleasure was seeing Pedro's face when it was all over.

There does seem to be ghosts of the great ones there. When Boone got up to bat, my buddy sits down while everyone else was standing and goes "Oh $hit, this is an out". I grabbed him,stood him up and said "What are you kidding? This is how legends are born!" Next thing you know we are jumping around,yelling,screaming,hugging total strangers. It was just an amazing thing.

Think of it, how do you explain:

1)The coach leaving Pedro in for one inning longer than he should have?

2)The coach taking Varitek out for a pinch runner while the game is tied in the bottom of the 9th?

3)Taking Ortiz out for a pinch runner in the 11th, almost giving up the notion of a 12th or 13th inning for both Varitek or Ortiz. And

4) Like you said, it seemed as though Grady Little was going to win or lose it in the 11th. An unbelievable night with, I'm sure, all the ghosts of the greats in the bleachers enjoying the game.

It was about 65% to fire him for catering to the prima donnas-Pedro/Manny.They say Pedro doesn't like the 'Perp Walk' leaving the mound in the middle of an inning. Grady saw what happened to Zim,probably figured he was next.

I was lucky enough to be there with some great friends. It was the most exciting event I had attended and something I will never forget.

You're right about the pitching,we were getting nervous. Innings 4 thru 7 we were getting real worried and the zing had gone out of the crowd. The one thing we kept saying was anybody but Weaver!

We were on our feet from the 8th inning on. During the 10th we needed to make a call about missing our train back to Jersey if the game went 12 or more innings and it was a no brainer. There was no way we were gonna leave that game and would have walked back to Jersey if we had to.
