I have a second cousin who lives in Bend.

The fault line that worries me is the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

It produced a 9.0+ earthquake on January 26, 1700.

A repeat of that event in the present day would send tsunamis crashing into Oregon, Washington and British Columbia, as well as Japan.

It would be a catastrophe.

There’s a local beach that has a couple of large cedar stumps visible only at low tide. They grew, high and dry, for a couple of hundred years, and the land they were on sank when the 1700 quake hit.

The Oregon coast has quite a few “ghost forests.”
