Trump Has Killed Democrats’ Sense of the Possible

Biden’s elevation to front-runner is a testament to how much the president has shaken Democrats’ faith.

To former Vice President Joe Biden’s benefit, electability has become the unofficial buzzword of the 2020 presidential campaign.

Although it’s still early, most polls show Biden as the clear front-runner among Democrats. A CNN/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll was just the latest to give him a solid lead. Among Iowa’s likely Democratic caucus-goers, 24 percent named Biden their first choice for president—a significant lead in a fractured field that has more than 20 candidates.

Biden’s early strength isn’t particularly surprising. He’s an experienced politician. And his service alongside former President Barack Obama has given him a priceless advantage. On Saturday, to celebrate “Best Friends Day,” Biden even tweeted a picture of bracelets entwining his first name and Obama’s—a not-so subtle reminder that the former vice president was a fixture of the good old days.

Nevertheless, Biden’s elevation to front-runner is a testament to how much President Donald Trump has shaken the faith of those who believe the White House could better reflect what America looked like.

Jemele Hill - another low-IQ product of affirmative action. The usual combination of stupidity, ignorance and arrogance for those who fit the above profile.

BTW, hasn’t The Atlantic gone out of business yet?

A white man with accomplishments just won’t go anywhere anymore in the party.

Well, until Obama, loser candidates fit that mold. Kerry, Gore, Mondale and Dukakis had resumes and went when it was their turn. They are more likely to win the presidency when someone comes out of nowhere: Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama. Bill Clinton might be the exception, and he pulled it off because of a very weak field (Paul Tsongas?!), and was an unusually skilled tactician. Also, even though he was well-known in political circles, and had an important but widely panned speech at the 1988 DNC, he was still a fresh and at the time youthful face to most of the country.

Sanders, Warren and Biden are too old, and are all old news.

The Biden China Syndrome and Girlie Groping will sink this creep. His primary opponents will destroy him... in time. Be patient.

“... Biden will have to face off against two or three survivors, one of whom will get at least his 24%,...

Here’s the interesting part. Biden, like Hillary, seems to have basic health problems. Not only has he had brain surgery, he also exhibits an inability to control his actions around people. Beyond being a world-class gaff machine, he can’t keep his hands to himself. The fact that somebody is willing to prop him up in a desperate attempt to get somebody “electable” means that those people feel, rightly, I think, that the entire present field is so specialized in their appeal that none among them will pass the test of a national vote by people who not in their particular diversity basket*. So, for now, the most electable person will be an old, white male. (Trump fits that bill except no health problems and he can keep his hands to himself in public. Given the Democrat’s low bar, even they will vote for him.)

*So, if you are a black heterosexual intent on electing a black person and the candidate is a white homosexual, are you going to vote for him if your major concern is to have a black representing you? That’s the problem with identity politics. The identities have conflicting priorities. This is why the only thing bringing Democrats together is their hatred of Trump. They have nothing else in common.
