5 for 5 wins since Trump was elected. Of course if the Republican loses it’s a sign that all is lost for them. If the Republican wins it’s just a local set-back. At least that will be the story on CNN.
Given redistricting, gun rights, and other long-term issues, this is the time to vote Ed Gillespie, with or without enthusiasm. The time to challenge moderates was in the primary. During the general election, we have to take the best choice weve got.
And for purists? During WW2, we allied with Stalin of all people, because that soviet socialist was slightly less of a danger than the national socialist we fought against. If we can side with Joseph Stalin, who was almost as far left and as anti-American as Hillary Clinton, we can side with Ed Gillespie.

Northam agrees with me on about 20% of issues. Gillespie agrees with me on about 80% of issues, including all of those that Northam got right. There are no critical issues on which Northam is better than Gillespie.
Or as the greatest President of the last 150 years said:
The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend and an ally - not a 20 percent traitor.
- President Ronald Reagan
In case it’s not obvious, not only do I (reluctantly) support Gillespie, I think every patriotic voter in Virginia should go to the polls, bring friends and family to the polls, help bring conservative strangers to the polls, and otherwise make sure we get out the vote. Perfect or not, America will be a better place with Gillespie as governor of Virginia than with a democrat in that seat.
My thought is that in both Jersey and Virginia the Demon Rats are the ones feeling pressure. Liberal states (Christie notwithstanding) are supposed to elect liberals.
ANY decent showing by a relative conservative is a moral win.
I pray for a win for Ed, though. Would be nice.
I will be voting this afternoon at my precinct in Gloucester County. Most of the polling gives a 3-5% edge to MS-13 ally Northam, but I think Gillespie, along with Vogel and Adams, could pull this off. That would send the dems into a panic.
This election is NOT important. Gillespie is a Rove Never Trumper and corrupt political hack. Shame on people to vote for him.
Praying hard for Virginia today from your Pennsylvania neighbor in the North.
I dont know much about Gillespie but I want him to win for no other reason but that horrible racist ad that his opponent ran against him.
Ra Ra Ra Republicans. Mindlessly vote for the Cheap Labor Express hack! Yay for our team!
Three things: The governor of Virginia will certainly have influence over redistricting after 2020.
I would be shocked if the R won this... but the KEY thing to look for is how much the vote percentage differs from the general election. Remember Trump lost Virginia... so if the R here does better than Trump... it’s a good sign for us regardless of whether he wins or not, and proves the polls are still biased against us.
I’d really like to see the Republican win, but, between the RAT vote fraud and the “Principled Conservative Purists sending a message”, I expect to see a RAT governor.
Of course, the “Principled Conservatie Purists” will then whine about the results...like Hitlery, blaming everyone but themselves.
Can someone in Virginia start a live thread so we can keep up with the news?
I see that the “Principled Conservative Purists” worked hard with the Libertarians to keep the state of VA in RAT hands. Now, they can live with it in silence.
