The obvious connection between all types of Trump voters is that they prefer him to the epidemic of political corruption that is choking this nation to death.

Just immigration, reduced taxes and health care, other than those ‘minor’ issues...

It’s so simple and NPR misses it. Trump is the Un-Hillary.

"A group of 20 analysts from across the ideological spectrum..."

That would be from new agey Democrat, all the way over to hard left anarchist.

Hillary made a very small tent instead of big one. She alienated swaths of voters. She got the big cities but lost the country as a whole as we knew we would get socialized, Ugh!, by her.

The factions of Trump supporters have a lot of overlap and are not distinct from each other.

Second amendment is the one issue that has the most agreement. The idea of a right to self-defense.

Next is Anti-elite which is the same as anti-political correctness, which is the same as anti-mainstream media and anti-swamp.

Those two unite almost all of us.

Drain-the-swamp and School choice flow from the above.

Yes, Trump supporters disagree strongly on trade and immigration.

Many Trump supporters are ideologically inconsistent, as has been the case for most American for decades if not centuries. As with most Americans, most Trump supporters are ignorant of economics. From experience in the real world they get right much of what the left in academia get wrong on economics. But then Trump supporters will come up with non-sequitors that just cannot be explained.

The big consolation is that Trump supporters are not as ignorant and hypocritical as the Clinton supporters.

The GOP, RINO’s, Republican’s from Maine and Vermont & the Never Trumpers, need to sit down, shut up and assimilate with the Conservatives, so they can help when the peaceful and orderly conversion of Democrats starts...

Ha! This is the kind of gobbledygook you get when a supposed expert knows nothing about the subject being discussed.

Trump’s coalition may have some subgroups, but there is much commonality - it’s Trump’s opposition - the “resistance” as they like to call themselves, that are disjointed and lacking in commonality.

The Left is the disjointed movement and the Right is the unified cause. This has been true since the Left’s “progressive” movement first mounted a serious challenge against the Founding principles of individual liberty, limited government and self-governance.

Right vs. Left could aptly be called Founders vs. anti-Founders.

The Left rejected the principle of self-governance, individual liberty and the economic manifestation of individual liberty; free enterprise. The Left, the Democrats, the “Progressives” as they like to call themselves is the party of grievances and special interests.

If a community gathered for a 4th of July picnic, all bringing food, blankets, folding chairs, etc. to the park, the Right would be the content ones, choosing a spot, laughing, eating, kids playing. The Left would be the disgruntled ones, complaining about other people’s children, dissatisfied with their spot or the food they brought.

The Left would see inequality, unfairness, irritating religious or patriotic symbols. The Left would start protesting - they would be a bummer.

Trump supporters have a great deal in common - were the ones that just want to show up at the picnic and be content with our lot, and have a good time. We don’t want a bunch of unnecessary rules and complaints - just good manners and mutual respect.

Hit it on the head with a hammer.

Hillary was an out and out crook, Trump was in business and made his money in an honest if difficult area. He was not bought and paid for by the typical GOP bankers. He spoke of issues that we have skipped debating for years because of political correctness, and he is a patriot.

Something that stands out is that Trump is pro Boy Scout. I like that (KC - Eagle Scout.)

This is strange.

The single most unifying issue should be to "build the wall," yet NPR makes no mention of it.

The first issue that NPR does mention is increasing taxes on the wealthy.

Go figure...

All five groups are fully aware that Democrat policies on immigration and taxation are aimed at stealing their productive output and awarding it to the non-productive. They support Trump as the only clear non-thief available to them.
