ATLANTA (CBS46) - Two weeks following a heated debate with a protestor at a Donald Trump rally in Atlanta, life has drastically changed for 16-year-old Quay Manuel.
I was just thinking Im going to out-smart him with kindness, Manuel said.
Manuel became an overnight sensation on social media, but not everyone was a fan. Hes received numerous death threats for his support of Trump.
I would say about 7 or 8, Manuel said.
The teenage Trump supporter has been brutally harassed online.
One comment I remember said that we should go clip this n*****, and clip means were going to take you out, basically, and its absolutely insane, Manuel said.
Hes also been told he was letting every ancestor he had down, hes been called racial slurs and even bullied at work.
Ive been referred to as a coon and as an Uncle Tom. Yeah Ive been referred to as a lot of things, its pretty sad, Manuel said.
When asked if the threats make him want to back out of politics, he didnt hesitate to respond.
I dont because it actually makes me want to move this campaign forward because that means Im touching so many people, Manuel said.
While members of the Black Lives Matter movement may not agree with Manuels political views, they did say they dont condone the threats.
Its morally wrong, its ethically wrong and if were talking about insinuating on causing bodily harm to another person simply because of their viewpoint I think its criminal, said Black Lives Matter President Sir Maejor Page with the Greater Atlanta chapter .
That said, Black Lives Matter did express one concern with the young Trump supporter.
Where were his parents? We know Donald Trump rallies can be very volatile, very aggressive from both sides of the aisle and I certainly wouldnt have my 16-year-old child at a Donald Trump rally unsupervised by adults, by his parents, Page said.
Manuel told CBS46 he was at the rally with friends and their parents. He also said some of the threats were turned over authorities.
On a side note, he said he was initially a Ted Cruz supporter but made the switch when Trump gained momentum.
This is why we have a secret ballot, even if your family or friends are against Trump you can still vote for him without anyone knowing. I am not a black person but I once got a long distance telephone scolding from my brother admonishing me not to vote for Republicans. “Republicans caused the depression.” he warned. Democrats are good at getting the message out. Unfortunately the message is usually a lie.
They get CCW’s too.
Works for me.
Can;’t have QUY getting off the PLANTATION PORCH!! The DEMOCRATS have him on a LEASH!!
I suppose he outranks Cap'n Crunch. :)
Did you mean to direct that vile remark to me, newbie?
True.
I certainly hope so! :)
I sure hope Trump sets up a Primetime Speaking spot for that young Man at the Convention.
He should also be introducing Trump at his Rallies.
Last week I went into a new neighborhood Chik-fil-A in Atlanta and guess who I saw working there—Quay. What a shock to see him. I told him how proud I was of him. Chik-fil-A only hires the best student employees.
unfortunately hell is not phoney
