The Declaration of Independence came under attack from an unlikely quartera state legislator.
Louisiana lawmaker Barbara Norton (D-Shreveport), argued that Americas founding document was racist during debate on a bill requiring public school students in the state to recite the Declaration of Independence daily, Fox & Friends reported Saturday.
For the Declaration of Independence only Caucasians (were) free, Norton, who is black, said Wednesday during the debate on the floor of the Louisiana House of Representatives. And for you to bring a bill to require that our children will recite the Declaration of Independence I think its a little bit unfair.
Rep. Valarie Hodges (R-Denham Springs) shelved the bill before lawmakers could vote on the proposal, which she sponsored. The measure would have required public school students in fourth through sixth grade to recite a passage from the Declaration of Independence....

Another shot of this genius:
well, we are done with apologizing for building the greatest nation on earth so this bat-in-the-belfry fool can just sit her no-listed-birthplace self down.
They really just dont get it and to me I really feel that its as important as Math and English and conjugating verbs, she said, adding that it was important to educate children to become good citizens.
Conjugating verbs? Did she really compare reciting the Declaration of Independence to conjugating verbs? No wonder they think it be racist!
So allowing her to live in this country, work, have a good job, make great money, own a home a new car or cars, go on vacation, and save for the future and her ultimate retirement is not enough good this country has given her, its not enough! divide and conquer
Well said. Excellent tag line.
Declaration’s pretty long. Ain’t no way to memorize that in one sitting. Somebody’s going to have to learn to read...
In the first rough draft of the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson wrote: “He (King George III) has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating its most sacred rights of life and liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere, or to incur miserable death in their transportation thither. This piratical warfare, the opprobium of INFIDEL Powers, is the warfare of the CHRISTIAN king of Great Britain. Determined to keep open a market where MEN should be bought & sold, he has prostituted his negative for suppressing every legislative attempt to prohibit or to restrain this execrable commerce. And that this assemblage of horrors might want no fact of distinguished die, he is now exciting those very people to rise in arms among us, and to purchase that liberty of which he has deprived them, by murdering the people on whom he also obtruded them: thus paying off former crimes committed against the LIBERTIES of one people, with crimes which he urges them to commit against the LIVES of another.”
Fear not, the remake of ROOTS miniseries starts tomorrow night.
Will set the record straight and soothe the wounds. /s
Whacked with an ugly stick, she was.
Thanks and as it turns out; it was time for a change in tagline. How do you like this one? :D
The Declaration of Independence is the statement adopted by the Second Continental Congress meeting at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 4, 1776
Prior to the revolution, many free African Americans supported the anti-British cause, most famously Crispus Attucks, believed to be the first person killed at the Boston Massacre. At the time of the American Revolution, some blacks had already been enlisted as Minutemen. Both free and enslaved Africans had served in local militias, especially in the North, defending their villages against attacks by Native Americans.

Salem Poor, a former slave, was praised for his role in the battle of Bunker Hill.
I love how they tell us that the very documents that empower these people to force their unpopular ways of living on us don’t apply to them.
Well, what do we expect from the ignorant and low IQ crowd?
Why wouldn’t I approve? Love it and so true! Gotta get everyone out to vote.
I carry a koozie cup in my back pocket that says “Hillary for Prison 2016”. It starts a lot of conversations. :D
I wonder if she ever actually read it?
And by the way, isn't "denigrate" a racist term? I think it has something to do with removing people of color from a given area.
