Ted Cruz just crushed Donald Trump in Washington State GOP delegates [dirty tricks]
The Week ^ | May 23, 2016 | Peter Weber

Posted on 05/24/2016 12:49:36 PM PDT by UMCRevMom@aol.com

Washington State holds its Republican primary on Tuesday, and with one candidate left in the race, there's not too much drama about the outcome. But in a twist — and what would the 2016 race be without a twist? — 40 of Washington's 41 delegates selected Saturday to attend the Republican National Convention in July are Ted Cruz partisans. Cruz supporters outnumbered Donald Trump supporters at the state GOP convention in Pasco, and they were better organized, pushing through the Cruz slate of delegates over occasional protests from Trump backers, who noted repeatedly that Cruz is no longer in the race.

Among the Trump supporters who did not get elected a national delegate is Trump state campaign chairman Don Benton, a Washington State senator. Benton predicted that the Cruz delegates will come around to supporting Trump — in fact, ACCORDING TO STATE PARTY RULES, they have to VOTE FOR TRUMP at the convention, assuming Trump wins the primary on Tuesday. But the Republicans in Washington State are not yet unified, The Seattle Times reports, and several candidates for statewide office are either studiously not saying if they will support Trump, like gubernatorial candidate Bill Bryant, or saying they won't. "Do you think I enjoy this? Not supporting the nominee?" said Chris Vance, a GOP candidate for U.S. Senate. "It's unpleasant."

“dirty tricks” means “too stupid to understand the caucus system”.

I voted for Ted Cruz...

But this Shi’ite has to stop.

I don’t know if he’s aiming to find a work around for pledged delegates, or exactly what his plan is, but its over. Trump is the nominee.

Cruz has no political career left.

He thinks he has any future chance of being president?

Hey Ted, S in one hand and hope in the other. See which one fills up first.

I’ve said this many times, and I’ll keep saying it: It’s Trump’s job to fight for good, loyal delegates. The fact that Cruz can do this proves that Trump is not doing his job. Note: I voted for Trump.

If the Trump people are not going to work to get the best possible delegates, I’d rather have Cruz choosing them than the establishment. I know it’s not a popular opinion, but what Cruz is doing is the best possible thing he could do for Trump, given the weaknesses of the Trump campaign outside of winning at the ballot box. I hope Cruz will continue doing this to ensure that the convention has as few establishment delegates as possible.

As a side note, I also hope that these Cruz delegates will push for good convention rules and hold the Rules Committee accountable for sending the right rules to the convention. Then I also hope that, no more than an hour before the first ballot, Cruz will announce that he is not putting his name up for nomination and wants his delegates to vote Trump.

[Under the rules from previous conventions, if Cruz frees his delegates more than an hour before the vote, they can vote for an establishment candidate if delegates from eight or more Cruz states agree on one candidate; if he frees them in the final hour, they can only vote for Trump because he is the only one other than Cruz who could meet the criteria for nomination.]

Ted can’t win, but he can win enough delegates to strongly influence the party platform. Given that he is quite conservative, that is probably a good thing.

Is Ashley Cruz “conservative” when he has prostitutes
dress as rats and judges, OR
when he had his paid ($500,000) fake wife defend him
as he is speechless, OR
when he votes for SECRET ObamaTRADE?

Is that why he dropped out? Cause he was “crushing” Trump?

“FUTC”

Relax and read the article.

Trump didn’t put any effort into putting anyone up for his slate, so the delegates were going to be establishment Republicans unless Cruz stepped in.

The conservative delegates will just ensure that there is a conservative agenda and platform.

Said delegates (unless something really odd happened like Trump not get enough delegates while running without opposition) are bound to vote for Trump.

Hell no he isn’t! I’d sooner vote for any of the stupid list of losers you posted, than Cruz. If the nomination is taken away from Trump....it’ll be PRESIDENT HILLARY in a gigantic landslide.

“in fact, ACCORDING TO STATE PARTY RULES, they have to VOTE FOR TRUMP at the convention”

I believe I read where Reince Priebus said convention rules are such that on the first ballot a state’s bound delegates are counted by the chair based on primary allocation numbers regardless of the delegate’s personal preferences or whether they even attend the convention.

That’s not to say that they couldn’t cause other mischief.

This article is at least a week old.In any case since Trump won the State the delegates are all bound to Trump at least on the first ballot so this is Much ado about nothing and I don’t even know why it’s been posted.
