It's settled: The general election is going to be Hillary Clinton versus Donald Trump. Incredibly, Trump with his zero political experience and against the active resistance of party elites, including the party's 2012 nominee has sewn up his nomination first. On Tuesday Ted Cruz dropped out after losing the Indiana primary; John Kasich dropped out on Wednesday. It's over.
But Clinton, with more advantages than any non-incumbent frontrunner in generations, still can't manage to convincingly put away Bernie Sanders. He unexpectedly won the Indiana primary on Tuesday and may yet win several more before the convention. However, Sanders is far enough behind in the delegate count that it's virtually impossible for him to catch up. He's going to keep campaigning all the way to the election so as to keep pushing his agenda (and fundraising for some other Democrats), but the writing is on the wall.
So Clinton is pivoting to the general election and is already looking to win some votes on the right, contacting likely Republicans and compiling ads of others bashing Trump. Several prominent conservatives have announced they'll be supporting her in November, and a lot more have signed on to the so-called #NeverTrump movement. It's a tempting move, to be sure. It's also a big mistake....

A rumor today is that the Koch brothers are thinking of switching to the #HillaryTrain(wreck). That would be a hoot. Half the Democrat spam I get is focused on how EEEEVIL the Koch brothers are, and the politicians they support. How do they backtrack from that?
I’ve seen her rather pathetic ads. They may actually get votes for Trump. The one that has Jeb, Rubio, Cruz, Graham and others blasting Trump, may actually make him look like a safe alternative for dems who don’t want to vote for Clinton.
She might think that the ad will attract the #nevertrumpers, but she’s probably already got them, so the purpose of the ad is kind of mystical.
The other ad showing Trump talking about building the wall, and keeping Muslims out of the country, once again, may actually get him votes. Once again, it seems aimed at those who are already in her camp.
It seems that the $4 MILLION she gave to strategists to figure out how to defeat Trump isn’t really paying off.
By never broaching the subject again. That’s their standard tactic.
Not surprising if you and others go for Clinton instead of Trump. No biggie.
Is “shove it” considered an insult?
You are again ignoring direct questions. Are you still working for the Cruz campaign? Is it actively seeking delegates? Or, have you yet agreed, as Jim asked today and several times now, to get behind Trump?
Her campaign is nuts if they are doing this. These are the very core of the DC political class that the voters hate
Yesterday on Rush, Mark Steyn suggested that it’s likely that Congress would oppose Trump more than Hillary and for the first moment I had a glimmer of optimism about him winning. FReegards.
