You can make a reply without actually replying to a USERNAME (Just leave it blank), but how you post a thread without making the first post, and having the first post be numbered #2 is beyond me as well.

It is a bug in FR. I’ve seen it happen on a few threads. I know how to update the URL when posting to post to a specific thread and to a specific post. That is why it starts at 2 instead of 1.
