This is the week that Ted Cruz won the Republican nomination
Red State ^ | April 10, 2016 | Freedoms Truth

Just over a month ago, after Trump’s big win in Nevada and after Cruz’s SEC state southern strategy fell short amidst the Trump tidal wave across the south, it looked like Trump had the momentum to prevail against a fractured field. Trump thought it was over, and was confident enough to hold unifying post-primary press conference events like a President. As more March contests took place however, the persistent overperformance of Cruz (in places like Kansas, Wyoming and Maine) and underperformance of Rubio that led finally to Rubio’s withdrawal after Florida. Despite Kasich staying in, the race has winnowed and clarified to the point where Cruz was finally given his chance to go toe to toe with Trump.

And what happened? While Trump won in Arizona, in part due to early votes in the Arizona primary and a favorable state for his immigration message, since then it’s been Cruz domination:

◾Cruz won Utah with 69% of the vote, sweeping all of Utah’s 40 delegates.
◾Cruz won delegates out of Louisiana that were available.
◾Cruz then won the North Dakota delegate race, taking 18 out of 25 delegates. Trump got only 1 publicly supporting delegate.
◾Cruz won in Wisconsin, getting close to 50% of the vote and winning 36 out of the 42 delegates by winning most Congressional districts, with just 6 delegates for Trump.
◾Cruz won the Colorado delegate selection process, winning all of the delegate races, either with Cruz bound delegates or Cruz-supporting unbound delegates, a total of 34 delegates.
◾Cruz has been winning the ‘other’ nomination race, the race for actual delegates, even when bound to Trump. In places like Georgia, South Carolina, Massachusetts, Tennessee, and many other states. For example, this weekend in Iowa, a CD is sending #CruzCrew delegates to Iowa.

@CCPAC4Cruz 5m5 minutes ago Sweep for #CruzCrew delegates in #IA02 #OnToCleveland

The Colorado win now gives Cruz the 8th states he needs to meet the Rule 40 (b) requirement, adding CO to TX, ME, KS, ID, ND, UT and WI. More importantly, though, from Utah until now Cruz has won the delegate race: 128 delegates for Cruz, 7 delegates for Trump, 0 delegates for Kasich. Cruz is crushing it. The race has become a race for delegate accumulation, and by shutting Trump down in Utah, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Colorado, Cruz has shifted the terrain enough to make it much harder for Trump to get to 1237. Should Cruz keep Trump under 50% in New York, and force a split of New York’s delegates, and have Kasich and Cruz both be over 20%, the split in delegates may be something like: 54 Trump, 11 Kasich, 30 Cruz. Then Trump’s hill will become steep to the point of impossible.

As of right now, The Greenpapers has soft pledged total at:

◾758 Trump
◾533 Cruz
◾732 available (via primaries) to be bound
◾77 unpledged available

Trump needs 65% of the remaining delegates to get to 1237. Should Trump get 50% of the remaining, above the 45% he’s gotten so far, Trump would have 1120 delegates after June 7th. This is why today, PredictIt.org says: “Traders give a brokered convention a 70% chance.”

With Trump’s complete failure to win the delegate race, with him losing steam in primaries and getting punked in almost every caucus and activist-filled GOP convention, it’s become almost a certainty that if Trump can’t get to Cleveland either at or very close to 1237 bound delegates, that he will fail to have sufficient delegates to actually win the nomination.

“The convention is an extension of the democratic process. … I am confident that we are going to win a contested convention.” – Ted Cruz, 4/9/16

Cruz will indeed win the nomination on the second ballot should Trump fail to win it on the first ballot. Victory will go to Cruz, the man who’s run the best campaign and is indeed the best candidate. And history will look back at this week and the Wisconsin victory and other wins this week as the turning point.

I am tired of being told, as a conservative, that I have to (yet again) hold my nose and vote for a more liberal nominee like McCain, Romney, any Bush

Well those gentlemen aren't on the ballot this time around, but it's interesting to note that all of them, being the cream of the GOPe "go along to get along" crop, have now aligned themselves with Ted Cruz.

Do you think that they're doing that because they've suddenly become staunch conservatives?

Or is it maybe because they're terrified of having their corrupt status quo obliterated?

Yep. Whoever wins, they just want to make sure that there's still a spot at the feeding trough for every member of the Uniparty, just like always.

A vote for Ted Cruz is a vote for the DC status quo.

So you go girl! Don't vote for the candidate endorsed by all those liberal GOPe insiders! Pull that Libertarian lever in November if you must...

Aren't you special?

First of all, Cruz will be mathematically eliminated. There is no way possible of him reaching 1237. Would require too many miracle finishes. But if he does become the nominee via convention shenanigans, the FReepers swearing not to vote for him will no longer be FReepers.

FR is going to do whatever we possibly can to defeat the God-hating, America-hating, constitution-hating, capitalism-hating communist/socialist/fascist totalitarian democrats!!

Anyone who works against us on this is no FReeper and will be booted!!

How tall are you?

How many people do YOU employ?

What is your net worth?

"LIBERTY"...you "care about liberty", do you? Nobody running cares MORE about liberty and the Constitution than Trump does! And he and his wife, unlike the Cruzes, don't claim, that you get both of them, should he be the president!

You really don't see how foolish your posts are, but everyone else does. *snicker*

My heart understands. I just got my only child 9-year old son his first puppy a few weeks back and he was worried someone might steal him, like if we leave it in the car for a few moments while we run in and out of a market. It would be so devastating like having a child kidnapped.

He was in nearly in tears just thinking about it but I told him state law does not allow for pets in food markets unless it’s a service dog. So now he wants to get his puppy trained to be a service dog but I had to tell him he has to wait until his doggie is a year old before training.

So glad to hear you got your dog back!

They’re only supporting Cruz out of necessity at this point, not because he is GOPe. He and Trump are both running as outsiders. But Trump’s been playing the game with insiders for decades, I have not reason he won’t do the same in Washington should he get there. Making deals, it’s what he does.

I am 5’1”. Why is this relevant?

I am self-employed, so I employ only myself. Why is this relevant?

My net worth is probably somewhere around $100,000. Why is this relevant?

And you call MY posts ‘foolish’?

I get it. You’re a Trump supporter. But I shall never be, as he is, in my mind, the latest incarnation of the moderate-to-liberal power elite that’s taking us further and further away from the Liberty I cherish. It does not matter if the other elites hate him ... if he ends up taking us in the same direction, he’s as bad as they are. Red Authoritarian, Blue Authoritarian ... in the end, we all wind up in the same place ... under their thumb.

God bless your little guy! He’s right to be concerned! I was sitting outside in my yard on the deck but I couldn’t see that one wooden gate. The next door neighbor was riding his power mower so I couldn’t hear the thieves removing the gate’s latches and studs and there’s too many trees shading that area. Of course, when I called my Louie, he didn’t come running so when I went to see what he was doing, I saw the gate wide open ... and called the Police.

nopardons, have you considered that perhaps 2ndDivisionVet is just accepting the reality brought about by Obama’s election. You may favor the Dims being allowed to play by one set of rules while everyone else must play by a more restrictive set of rules. After all many Trump supporters are Dims, perhaps you are too. Others who are not Dims want a level playing field.

Mine evolved over Obama. Eventually I realized to me the only thing that would have mattered would be if as an adult Obama traveled on a foreign passport. As an adult them he’s choosing which country he is affiliated with.

“I am defining ‘Conservative’ as ‘classical enlightenment liberalism’, the sort the country was founded upon, which expounds individualism and limited government. “

I always wonder if people who post stuff like this know anything at all about early American history and the conflict between founders like Alexander Hamilton and those like Jefferson, George Mason, and Patrick Henry.

The nationalist faction’s first victory was when the Constitution replaced the Articles of Confederation. This victory of the national government became permanent a generation later with Lincoln, the very essence of a nationalist who advocated big government programs like the Transcontinental Railroad and Land Grant colleges. He also supported the Morrill tariff.

As for protectionism, Sasha needs to read Hamilton’s Report on Manufactures that was the model for our economic policy. It was expressly protectionist. He needs to take a look at the tariff bill passed by the First Congress and signed by President Washington, which put into effect Hamilton’s protectionist ideas.

Putting aside this nonsense about “Nationalist” vs “Conservative”, if anything Trump is a milder version of Andrew Jackson, who was elected by the vulgar rabble and hated by the entrenched elites. Trump, like Jackson, is a patriot.

Totally DIFFERENT kinds of people.

You are a DOG IN THE MANGER/CUT OFF YOUR NOSE TO SPITE YOUR FACE kind of person, who appears to be incapable of actually seeing the truth about anything political/governmental. Which makes me curious as to your education and your lack of objectivity and common sense.

Frankly, it would be best if you just stayed home and didn't vote and just give up. LoFo voters shouldn't be allowed to vote!

Exactly, Trump is in favor of higher taxes. Tax revenue is the fertilizer used to grow government. Trump would certainly grow government if elected.
