You do understand that so far more people have voted for Hillary than have voted for Trump, even thought nearly twice as many people have voted in the Republican primaries.

There are these things called rules, which were put in place before the race began. The rules say that the first candidate that wins 1,237 delegates gets the nomination, whether that occurs before or after the convention begins. The rules do not say that whichever candidate gets a plurality lead of 37% of the vote during the early primaries (when there are a dozen candidates splitting the vote) gets the nomination and all the other candidates have to drop out and pledge their fealty to him.
