The Big Conversation
The pivotal and increasingly more difficult to predict GOP presidential primary in New Hampshire will happen tomorrow. As the Tribune's Abby Livingston reports, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is campaigning with an urgency similar to his efforts in Iowa.
"Cruz already has an Iowa victory under his belt, and will soon turn to Republican supporters better aligned with his message in Southern states in the coming weeks," Livingston wrote. "But he is campaigning here in New Hampshire as if there is not tomorrow: come Tuesday, he will have made at least 17 stops in a week's time."
Donald Trump has run strongly in the Granite State for a while now, and Livingston reports that the real race here is for second place with the four "establishment" candidates -- former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio -- "desperately need(ing) a strong finish here."
Livingston adds, "Cruz could displace them all and take the second-place red ribbon, or his appeal to base voters could prove tone deaf here."
One of the wild cards at play heading into the final couple of days in New Hampshire: assessing exactly how much damage Rubio did to himself at Saturday's GOP presidential debate....

<< “ We know polls arenât exactly reliable.” >>>
We know Cruz is not exactly “reliable”.
Thankfully, TRUMP has pointed the spotlight on what IS becoming reliable with Cruz.
Ted will be afforded no more unforced errors, methinks.
“2nd place, 1st loser (apparently no votes to be stolen in NH)”
No votes were “stolen” in Iowa.
Since you mentioned it; can you provide us a list of all of Ben Carsons campaign appearnces in NH since Iowa finished up?
Sarah would be disappointed with your efforts to support Cruz. How much money are you going to raise for Ted?
There has always been voter fraud. LBJ won his primary for the Senate by “losing” a major precinct’s ballots. (It became known as “Ballot Box 13”.)
When my parents lived in Chicago for a few years (before coming to New York), my dad was a pollwatcher. They were still using paper ballots then, and teh guy who was doing the count was throing them into 2 stacks:
“Two for us, one for you; two for us, one for you.” He wasn’t even looking at them.
When Dad protested, he was told to shut up because that’s the way they do it. He went and got a cop and the cop told him essentially the same thing.
My parents were also pollwatchers in New York for the Conservative Party (Dad’s mentionedon page 87 of J. Daniel Mahoney’s book Actions Speak Louder.) Mother told me all the voting machines would come in with 3-5 votes for Nelson Rockefeller already on them.
Carson’s appearances in NH have nothing to do with Ted being a thief.
Like I GAF what Sarah is disappointed in. Plus, Gov. Palin wouldn’t know me from Adam & Eve. I have raised just over $80,000 for Cruz and working on much more!
Cruz has fought our battles against the Washington cartel (both parties) time after time after time.
Is his record perfect? No. Nobody’s is. But it’s consistently conservative, and The Don cannot say that.
Right now, he’s tied for second.
Am I mistaken or weren’t you the Freeper who would raise a million grass roots dollars if Sarah decided to run for President?
Oh, is she running?
You Trump people really won't stop at anything will you?
Ted Cruz had some of his people relay CNN reports (pre maturely) that have pretty much turned out to be true.
Ted owned up to jumping the gun; as did congressman Steve King.
But the essence of the reports seem to be validated.
Meanwhile Trump spouts off all kinds of crazy uncle things and he gets a pass.
Obviously it was a loud buzz... for you responded. Lol
I try to be polite here to all but the most obnoxious posters. It’s how I was brought up.
Does that matter?
Interesting information for me. But I still think votes are what count. I would also never answer exit poll questions. I believe that it is my business.
And your point is?
So you did pledge to raise beaucoup dollars for Sarah. Now that she’s not running her endorsements are rendered invalid?
Cruz is dirty. Better to deal with it now before it’s too late.
Carson had represenatives at caucus sites, smart phones & huge Flatscreens everywhere. No one was duped.
NH is a liberal state:
Most of the libs will crossover and vote Trump so he should win big.
Then the 3 Governors and Rubio will split moderate vote.
If all 4 break up even, then then Cruz may bump to 2nd, if one of the 4 push ahead big Cruz will drop to 3rd.
