The Big Conversation
The pivotal and increasingly more difficult to predict GOP presidential primary in New Hampshire will happen tomorrow. As the Tribune's Abby Livingston reports, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is campaigning with an urgency similar to his efforts in Iowa.
"Cruz already has an Iowa victory under his belt, and will soon turn to Republican supporters better aligned with his message in Southern states in the coming weeks," Livingston wrote. "But he is campaigning here in New Hampshire as if there is not tomorrow: come Tuesday, he will have made at least 17 stops in a week's time."
Donald Trump has run strongly in the Granite State for a while now, and Livingston reports that the real race here is for second place with the four "establishment" candidates -- former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio -- "desperately need(ing) a strong finish here."
Livingston adds, "Cruz could displace them all and take the second-place red ribbon, or his appeal to base voters could prove tone deaf here."
One of the wild cards at play heading into the final couple of days in New Hampshire: assessing exactly how much damage Rubio did to himself at Saturday's GOP presidential debate....

If you know what you’re talking about, please tell me.
Maybe you’re just babbling.
Thank you. That is stupid.
Altura, no offense intended, but I’m with Palin. Not with Cruz the overzealous career politician.
Palin isn’t running.
So ... you are playing some sort of idiotic race card?
Did you read my post about what Trump said about Carson or are you in denial about that.
I will be back after NH but maybe you won’t be here. One can hope.
Overzealous? I take it that conservative principles bother you and to call Ted Cruz a career politician is complete distortion. You’ll take a candidate that agrees with Hillary and praises nationalizing health care.
It is unfortunate that you dismiss her after all that she has done for conservatism.
Politics and expediency take priority.
Varsity lol. Nice graphic, but is Trump married to Goldman Sachs?
Please list for us what you feel her contributions are to conservatism.
Look, I get it. I loved Sarah too. And Ted and I appreciate what she’s done for him and for the party.
But she’s really not that much a factor anymore. Not as much as Trump thought she’d be. In fact, if I were you, I’d fault Trump for kinda dropping her after her endorsement.
You may have to get over her at some point in your life.
Cruz isn’t a career politician? A man from the beginning positioning himself for public office? Really? He’s no better than Paul Ryan.
Its' a tradition in New Hampshire to be on the ground and meet people. So here's a man traveling with Cruz who says...
.."And that's what Cruz has been doing now for several weeks. I've been on the bus with him all this week and a week or so a go, he was up for another five day bus trip." he said. (Amazing stamina)
"He was meeting two three four hundred people one night. 1,300 people at stop after stop after stop. So he's met thousands of voters here one on one." said Smith.
"And then when you go to these meetings or these rallies, it's not Donald Trump with 5,000 people, but I would rather meet 5,000 in 15 or 20 stops where you get to interact than 5,000 people that you're speaking TO." he explained. "It's different It's the interaction people like here."
Barrington this week in New Hampshire...
.... Ted had a a terrific evening in Nashua
Wow. Are you serious? Et tu Brute?
No, he was a tea party candidate that has faithfully served the conservative cause. You are comfortable supporting a candidate that contributed to the worst Democrats and RINOs that have held public office. I’ll take a conservative in the White House, not someone that would register Democrat and get praise from ThinkProgress for his “progressive values.”
Get over her? Get over yourself.
Yeah, I et.
I like Cruz cause when he shut down Washington, the media and his own party tried to destroy him, said he destroyed the Republican chances...we won more seats in the house and then the majority of the senate. He took all the incoming and did not back off. Cruz is my first choice.
Carson has my respect as a doctor and when he schlonged Obama at the prayer breakfast.
You appear to have an excellent view of your colon. Have you perhaps considered trying to tell people why your candidate is better, rather than simply slinging insults at other candidates?
Or is actual debate too difficult for you?
