Donald Trumpâs decision to skip the next debate marked yet another unexpected twist in his presidential campaign but probably a very smart political decision.
Trumpâs conflict with Fox News started after Trump began bashing moderator Megyn Kelly, whose questions in the first GOP debate he said were unfair. But it quickly turned into the entire network mocking him.
When Trump polled his Twitter followers about whether he should participate, Fox News put out a news release mocking him:
âWe learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president â a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings.â
That jab was too much and Trump followed his own negotiating advice from The Art of the Deal and walked away from the table. After spending most of his campaign arguing that the world laughs at President Obama because he is a terrible negotiator, it was really Trumpâs only move.

Heâs going to be doing a wounded veterans fund raiser instead.
Are you serious? If so, it would be a fantastic thumb of the nose to all the establishment.
Very much less. I won't.
Fox is going to lose millions of dollars in ad revenue.
If I am working in sales and corporate side of Fox I am furious with the idiotic news department for that stupid insulting statement levelled at Trump.
After they fired that off Trump had no choice but to pull out. Now FOX has to walk back and give Trump something in return.
The $64,000 question is who at FOX wrote that infantile, unprofessional “statement”?
is google going to cover the financial losses of FNC?
Murdoch split shares with family
It’s debatable
Without FOX NEWS and the occasional hit movie Ruperts empire would stumble
FOX NEWS return on investment is exponential
It is the Golden Goose for that side of News Corp....called 21st Century Fox now I think
The newspaper side was split off 2 years ago and is in serious decline
Newspapers....Murdoch is stuck mentally there and won’t face it
Lachlan and James will though
Rupert net worth estimated....including family....10-12 billion
Trump estimated ...family as well.....4-9 billion
Ruperts is easily determined by shares held and market value
Most of Trumps is private commercial real estate and much more subjective
What if it read “We have leaned that Cruz was born into a family of Religious fanatics, and he thinks he’s the Seventh King”. Wouldn’t that be hilarious?
TTTT
What was/is the Muslim going to do now without Trump to there to insult. What was that plan?
Great question ... we’ll probably never know
I’m a Cruz supporter. If the reports are true that Fox was planning to integrate antagonists into the debate, I do believe Trump made the right decision.
The emails from Fox were bush league and Preibus should have stepped in to stop this.
I believe skipping it was exactly the right decision. I’ll be watching where ever he is, will not watch the debate. :) Finally, someone who is not afraid to stand up.
FOXy News a bastion of conservatism? Nyet...
The emails from Fox were bush league...
No better way to deal with a bush league candidate.
Im a veteran of those wars. I understand you perfectly. Best battle training for the internet I ever had.
Trump will still win the Drudge poll.
Trump could tell Murdock, “OK I’ll debate, but 100% of the ad revenue goes to support veterans”.
After further thought, here are my thoughts on the matter.
If you want to be hired for a job, you have to show up at the interview.
If you don’t show up at the interview, then you can’t be surprised when you don’t get hired.
Even if one of the interviewers at the place of employment is a complete d*ck, you still have to show up and deal with that person, even if you don’t like it.
Even if you stage your own interview in lieu of showing up at the actual interview, that won’t count.
Additional analysis-
Even though Kelly tried to railroad him last time, what she succeeded in doing was railroading herself and boosting Trump.
There should be no question that she could ask that he can’t come up with a witty response to, or a detailed answer, or a scolding, or even silence as a response. It’s up to him to demonstrate how he can handle adversity.
Bottom line-
I hope he shows up. I think not showing up will be a tactical error that could hurt his candidacy.
Exactly! We follow Trump! Won’t watch set up debate! Fox & Megoon can stick it!
That’s fundamentally kicking you candidates butt.
