CINCINNATI (AP) -- Some prominent conservative activists in Ohio are backing Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential race.

The joint announcement Monday by three dozen people who've been involved in anti-abortion groups or other conservative causes comes after Friday's endorsement by the Ohio Republican Party of the state's governor, John Kasich (KAY'-sik). Republican Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio followed Saturday with his own endorsement of Kasich, who's been trailing the front-runners in the crowded field....
