Donald Trump's questions about Ted Cruz's citizenship may not be helping him in Iowa. In fact, they may be boosting his rival according to one group of Hawkeye State voters.
In his latest focus group, pollster Frank Luntz asked if the fact that Cruz was born in Canada, to an American mother, raised legitimate concerns about his eligibility for president, as Trump has suggested. Only six of 27 participants raised their hands, even though seven identified Trump as their first-choice candidate.
One participant said the issue exposes Trump as "unserious," while another called it a "joke."
"Just a few months ago, he said his strongest lawyers said it's a settled issue and Cruz is eligible," one participant said. "Now three months later, when Cruz overtakes him in the polls, he says the exact opposite... It's not a serious issue at all."(continued)

Well well. It appears only trumpsters worship the man trump.
Everyone else looks at what he said before and sees trump as a typical politician
How’s the weather in Chicago, Glenduh?
How’s the weather in Chicago, Glenduh?
“oh, well, iâm not from thereâlol.”
Hm. Could’ve fooled me.
Better take another look. Only yesterday in Clear Lake, IA - it is plenty small and plenty of small Iowa communities all around the town. Trump got what 1,700 filling it all up. "Trump fires up 1,700 in Clear Lake" Iowa. And Trump got about the same number in small town USA Uttumwa, IA. Trump wades through the crowds meeting and greeting them too.
What's that make in a few hours in Iowa for Trump? 3,500 total for both. It's almost is the same numbers as Cruz got in a long 5 day bus trip in what 33 or 36 stops? I wouldn't get over confident or put any real money down on Cruz winning. The guy who bets on Cruz would likely be very disappointed.
If you are serious... Haven’t a clue. If your question is code or a joke... Way over my head. I quit FR. This place is too hostile for me.
Its like many here have never seen an election before. National polls are notoriously unreliable till you get close to an actual nomination. State polls are better but still not really indicative of anything till the final days before the primaries in those states.
Polls say Trump holds a 15 or so point lead here in Michigan but little actual campaigning has been done here. I won’t predict who will win but the spread is likely to be considerably narrower in final results. In 08 Romney beat McCain here by nearly 10 points but in a race between Romney and considerably more conservative Santorum in 2012 it was effectively a tie with both candidates winning 7 districts each with the tie breaker being some 15,000 votes for Romney.
When he’s winning significantly in about 2 to 3 hundred polls in the last half year, yeah some polls will get questioned.
hows that? because i think our constitution should be followed and have a legal prez?.. If you are ok with our prez not being a NBC and not a follower of our constitution then you must be a Obama supporter, and trying to push your liberal agenda
Frank Puntz - That’s the guy Trump threw out of his office.
It'll be over soon enough. We'll all find what "the reality" is after the voting gets started. At least who is winning after several primary states, and eventually who takes it all.
“It may be the last loss for Trump though”
Trump will lose Texas!
Cruz WILL win Texas and most likely Oklahoma by a mile!
As usual, the title is meaningless to the actual piece. It’s a mixed bag of opinions and no where near a consensus of IA voters. The take away is really that Cruz voters will never vote for Trump if he gets the nomination. Big deal. Most, but not all, will never vote for anybody else except their guy.
The Marxo-Demo-Proggies still wouldn't accept it. Remember George W.? Even today the Marxo-Demo-Proggies are saying George W. was “Selected” by the Supreme Court.
And in the end, you watch, Cruz will throw his delegates to the establishment guy who is still in the hunt - donor class candidates will eventually come together. His supporters will be shocked at first, but in the end they will support him no matter what he does.
Exept Cruz is is losing in the RCP average that has Trump +4.3% in Texas with the lead. And in Sooner land, the last poll has Trump +9% over the Republican field.
This one.
“EXCLUSIVE POLL: Trump, Clinton Remain Front-runners in Oklahoma”
-snip-
“We had [Trump] leading back in September and he’s still leading to this day,” says Bill Shapard, founder of SoonerPoll.com. “I think it shows the Republican electorate is looking for someone who has not been a politician before. They’re looking for an outsider. They’re looking for ideas.”
Yes if that happens, Cruz's public persona would be smashed that he may never recover from.
“Exept Cruz is is losing in the RCP”
Yes, and those same RCP average polls show Trump being the only candidate to lose to Hillary.
I can tell you from being here on the ground, Cruz will win by a landslide. The only people in Texas supporting Trump are liberals in Austin, which can’t vote in the primary, and Debra Medina supporters, which make up less than 20% of the republican vote in TX.
Cruz’s mother was not a Canadian citizen. She had not even met the residency requirement of 5 years at the time Cruz was born. She moved there in late 1967 and Cruz was born in 1970. She didn’t apply for citizenship after he was born either.
