Comes now a story in the New York Times, making a similar point or two:
Donald Trump holds a dominant position in national polls in no small part because he is extremely strong among people on the periphery of the Republican coalition.
He is strongest among Republicans who are less affluent, less educated and less likely to turn out to vote. His very best voters are self-identified Republicans who nonetheless are registered as Democrats. It's a coalition that's concentrated in the South, Appalachia and the industrial North, according to data provided to The Upshot by Civis Analytics, a Democratic data firm.
Mr. Trump's huge advantage among these groups poses a challenge for his campaign, because it may not have the turnout operation necessary to mobilize irregular voters....

When I went to undergraduate school for anthropology you would not believe the dreck that I had to read. The scales fell from my eyes when I was reading an assigned collection of anthropology PhD dissertations and had to read one that argued that incest was good for children. They tried to boil my frog too fast and I began to look at everything I was being told very critically.
Trump is the last chance we have to avoid a revolution. If he becomes president and fails and/or betrays America and the Constitution Travis our birthright then the armed militia of citizens that be Second Amendment created will be our only refuge.
Many of the people I know, who support Trump, have college degrees including Masters degrees and PhD’s. So what’s with the “uneducated” crapola? These fools are insulting all of us. Come November, there’s going to a lot of Imodium needed for the MSM, RATs, Elites, talking heads, and the list goes on.
Wow, you really have to personalize this stuff, don't you? I'm not a Christian, but I have nothing against Christianity. I'm just saying there's a large portion of the population, including mainstream Christians who think that kind of rhetoric sounds kooky. A lot of them lean conservative. It may help him in the Iowa caucuses, but it won't in the general election, if he somehow ever won the nomination.

As it stands right now, Cruz has the clearest path to the nomination, based on all the reading I’m doing. Of course, not one single person has voted yet, so we’ll see.

My question was can you really see disaffected Democrats voting for Cruz in the general election, not who would win the nomination. Of course the polls all show you are wrong about that, but my question was about the general election.
Let’s ask the former Democrats here (there are lots of them) whether they would’ve voted for Hillary or Ted, given the choice. I’ve been a Republican since I was 12 years old, so I have no idea how Democrats think.
I have a College degree; own my own business (used ‘Art of the Deal’) to set it up and run it; don't like P.C.B.S (if your going to waste your time saying something, say it, everyone else does);
Trump is the American Dream, he built his and he lives it, jealousy has a lot to do with people when they can't achieve their dreams, so they tear someone else down to make them feel better;
I like his presentation of himself, strong, bold and very intelligent;
And when people are pointing out faults of others, they point their finger at you, but have three pointing back at themselves, says a lot about people...
They are afraid of Trump, their ‘gravy trains’ will be over; things will be done for Legal Americans and not for Wall Street, media (how he has dismantled them is a great example); talking heads (he tells them how the subject will be done in about the first three words) no one has done that before;he pulled back the curtain and showed us how dirty and corrupt the GOPe has become; and he isn't a POLITICIAN...he has never made a bill, or voted on one, or vetoed one or passed one, fear makes people do strange things, paranoia, stressed out, can't stay on ‘their’ game plan....(Hillary is an example of this and also Jeb Bush)
Trump is the person who will receive my vote, and a lot of other people are starting to talk a lot about Trump more so in the last month than ever before...
Family members have frightened me this weekend (we have visitors) about their visceral hatred of Trump.
I’m okay with Trump and especially if he is a winner but these two people are relatively or very conservative and they just made outbursts of dislike or loathing of Trump as soon as I mentioned his name.
Someone tell me that is not a universal reaction among moderately political people.

Since education has come up on this thread, both of these people have advanced degrees.
The denigration of TRUMP voters is not working.
It bonds his supporters with him and helps grow the base. The Democrats are hearing how he is despised by the Republicans, and are tuning in to see what all the fuss is about.
They hear him and say, “WOW, I like that”! This means they don’t have to vote for Hillary to spite the Republicans, even if they are unenthused about HRC, because TRUMP is blowing up the GOPE, AND hitting all the universal concerns of Americans across the board.
Our field and Hillary want to hang out in policy weeds for the entire campaign. NO one cares about weeds. SECURING our country is the issue that has lapped that crap, by miles and no one can take that theme away from TRUMP.
It’s way too late for thieving, parroting and mimicking what TRUMP says. He owned all of it from the start.

My family members counter yours. Relatives that have never agreed with me politically on anything are all in for Trump. I could never have predicted this. Trump’s appeal is vast.

Trump has more support among lesser educated Americans. Naturally: he’s ahead!
What the media hides is that Trump ALSO has about the same support from the more-educated as do his opponents.
They turn the story upside down. They lie.
Cruz’s Dominionist ties and his kooky tax plan (a 16% VAT which basically helps donors) doom him the general.
Good to know.
My view of Trump is he is a roll of the dice, a big win or a big loss. The other guys are certain ‘respectable’ losses because their rulebook is old and tired.
The folks I hear from started out liking Trump, but have gradually been turned off by his churlishness and lack of depth on issues.
And a lot of people started out liking Cruz but are getting very very tired of his begging and his wife’s whiny voice begging also....
