I like and respect both Donald and Ben. I do not believe either one is going to be our nominee. I don't believe either one is going to be our president. I think both of them, their campaigns have a natural arc. And with both of them I think gravity is pulling them down... Carson is further in that descent. You look at Paris, you look at San Bernardino, it's given a seriousness to this race, that people are looking for: Who is prepared to be a commander in chief? Who understands the threats we face? Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button? Now that's a question of strength, but it's also a question of judgment. And I think that is a question that is a challenging question for both of them. So my approach, much to the frustration of the media has been to bear hug both of them, and smother them with love. People run as who they are. I believe gravity will bring both of those campaigns down, I think the lion's share of their supporters come to us
So, it wasn't an attack on them at all. It was one candidate saying he is a better choice. Of course he'd say that. It's hardly reasonable to attack a candidate for putting himself forward as the best choice.
Thank you for posting the word for word comments. I listened to the tape, also. Trump wants to attack Cruz and the media wants to stir this up. Cruz said nothing that anyone should take offense.

So you don’t think that’s a little arrogant?
“Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button? Now that’s a question of strength, but it’s also a question of judgment. And I think that is a question that is a challenging question for both of them?”
“challenging question for BOTH of them”? You mean, they each have only two supporters. And the challenging question? Answer: finger on the button.
That is going for the jugular.
Thanks for posting that and putting the truth in context.
Me thinks perhaps The Donald doth protest too much.
I think you’re obviously right - BUT the last sentence of Cruz’s, “the lion’s share of their supporters come to us”, gave me an “Aha!” moment. Many of us say Cruz avoids trashing Trump because Cruz is a nice guy, (ok, he is), or figures Trump would select him as VP candidate (a logical assumption), or down the line in thoughts, that a President Trump would nominate Cruz to the Supreme Court at the first opportunity, and there will be some (a very attractive thought that is!) I hadn’t figured yet that Cruz’s reasoning could be that if Trump flames out or loses, his “lion’s share of supporters come to” Cruz. Maybe I would, maybe you would, but I think in general they wouldn’t. So where would they go? Back to bed on election day or go out and start/vote for a third party. Cruz is underestimating us Trump supporters. Of course, so is the RNC.
My two cents.
