On that and many other points, you don’t know what you are talking about. Trump is just setting the table for the debate and to do so, one NEVER tells what his strategy, or any point of it, is before going there. There is no debate if the other side of it knows what the guide is.
So, tell us how much time you spent on this topic before it too became an issue? I can honestly tell you that I did not spend any time on it because I knew there was not a danged thing I could do about it right now and neither can anyone else outside of the horribly corrupt administration and DC in general.
The right to bear arms is a constitutional right, that is, it is part of the Bill of Rights. To deny individuals access to that constitutional right to bear arms merely because a bureaucrat has put that individuals name, or the name of some other individual bearing the same name, on a list is profoundly violative of the constitutional guarantee of due process.
The matter is revealing of how Donald Trump thinks, he does not ask himself what your constitutional rights are, he simply reacts according to the instructions of his own ego.
When he went to the DMV to get his MD driver's license and change his car registration, he found he couldn't because he shared the exact same name as someone in Cali (which might have been a coincidence but who might have also stolen and or been using my friends identity, as it turned out using a former address of my friend), who had numerous outstanding tickets and no auto insurance. In the process of trying to get it straighten out my friend found out that this other guy also had a long criminal record including Federal drug trafficking charges.
As a result, for a brief time my friend ended up on the no fly list.
The irony was that my friend was a Commander, coming up on 20 years of service in the USN, in cryptology / computer sciences (with a very high level SC) and had moved to MD as his new assignment was at the NSA HQ, heading up a department that had something to do with, I kid you not - "Information Warfare". Of course he would never say much about what that entailed, nor did I want to know, all he did tell me was his unit sometimes wore the white hats - trying to the keep the bad guys out of our systems and sometimes the black hats - trying to break into the bad guys systems.
He was able to get off the no fly list and straighten out the DMV issues, but it took several weeks even with his SC and presumably his inside connections in the Gov.
While I tend to think such mistakes are the exception and that a majority deserve to be on it, I also figure if someone like my friend could end up on a no fly list, anybody can.
He was talking about “bad eggs” of foreign influence. Your stanch advocacy against, is well short of US Constitutional consideration.
So, what is your real problem, with Mr. Trump?
Spit it out, sir.
Pssst...If they can't get guns legally, they will get them illegally. They just have to call the AG office. They'll direct them to their favorite Mexican gun runners.
He’s a salesman who lets the buyer decide what they think they’re buying. Its why we see so many different explanations of what he says.
Specifics are important.
Exactly right. Trump doesn’t know the specifics of how a person gets on the no-fly list, and there’s no reason that he would know that right now. So he gives a nonspecific answer to a currently meaningless question. This no-fly list stuff is simply a distraction from the real issues, a sop for the masses.
Just keep them out of the country, problem solved.
Amendment V
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
Denying someone's constitutional rights without due process of law equates to depriving them of their liberty. Riding on an airplane is not a constitutional right. The right to keep and bear arms is.
All candidates as well as current office holders should abandon this idiotic idea of a tie in of the no fly list to a firearm ban.
The problem with “no-fly, no guns” is that the Patriot Act allows virtually anybody to be added to the No Fly list for almost any administrative reason with little opportunity to appeal. This would allow virtual universal gun confiscation.
Think about it this way.
Without any judicial Review, you are putting
A Louis Lerner Bureaucrat in charge of gun ownership in America
YUGE mistake, Donald
I realize it was a typo but I’ve seen her and “Louis” might be more appropriate than “Lois”
I agree completely.
Big, big mistake if he goes for this.
I don’t think he’s going for it, but it would be a very large mistake.
This is CNN. They say Trump will consider it, but only provide a quote from Rubio. how about a quote from Trump? Last couple times this happened he was asked about shutting down mosques and terrorist databases, and everyone lost their shirt. Turns out Trump was right on both.
The point is that can change in and instant and you can do nothing about it. Poof, your rights are gone, no court, no trial, no way to get off the list.
NO THANKS!
