Donald Trumpâs fall from atop the GOP presidential polls has started, turning Decision 2016 into a two-horse race with U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in my opinion.
A national Reuters poll, released Friday, showed Trumpâs support has tumbled 12 percentage points since making controversial, indefensible remarks about the Nov. 13 Paris terrorist attacks.....

Trump polls about 35% among Republicans. That means 65% of Republicans do not like him, or at least like so one else better. Yes, I would say most Americans would say Trump is not likable. He is a jerk.
As for your contention that the size of crowds indicate likability - did you say the say the same thing about Obama in 2008?
I was just reading it - it’s pretty long and detailed!
“Yet on second viewing, whatâs striking about Cruzâs pivot is how premeditated it sounds. Cruzâs tell is the way he was able to rattle off, with remarkable accuracy, the most unflattering questions his rivals had already been asked. It seems clear that Cruz arrived in Boulder planning to spend the first part of the debate making a mental list of every âbiasedâ query for later use. By the time Quintanilla got around to him, he was ready to strike.”
I’m not sure about that - i think he saw an opportunity and took it. He has that audiomemory thing going, which us why he remembered the questions. He did stumble a little, hemming and hawing just a little. His speaking style, though, does sound scripted even when it isn’t.
Him being calculating actually endears me to him more. I can understand and respect that. BUT is he so calculating as to back something like amnesty to get the nomination? Seems he might be willing to compromise his principles to get the bigger prize. He’s been silent most of the campaign on illegal immigration, and is both conservative and smart enough to know he needed to say something. His just-released policy is vague on the illegals here. More cold calculations? I don’t think I can trust that.
“I don’t believe Donald is going to be the nominee, and I think, in time, the lion’s share of his supporters end up with us,” Cruz said in an interview with a New York talk show host.
Can you imagine the ‘splodey heads if TRUMP said that about Cruz??? That time may be quickly approaching...so, we’ll see their reactions, if so.
But then the same is true about Cruz.
To say "you either love him or you hate him" about either man would be going too far, but I get the feeling there are fewer neutrals to be won over when it comes to Donald or Ted, than would be the case with, say, Marco Rubio.
Polls back that up in Trump's case. Like Bush and Christie he already has high unfavorable ratings. Cruz is still unknown to a lot of people, but time will tell.
I have been very quite on the Cruz subject, but I may have to come out with some articles that I have found....I don’t want to sound as mean as the Cruz supporters sometimes do, but I think before long, we are going to have to have a ‘good discussion’ on this issue....
Who has a higher ceiling?
No, I don’t trust him on amnesty at all. I also think that his objection to anchor babies being stopped without a constitutional amendment ties into his own very murky qualifications to run for President.
Did you read the article? Cruz couldn’t even be elected President of his debate team despite being the best debater out there. Reason is that his peers didn’t like him...at all. Apparently this is the case in the Senate as well.
Makes it a little hard to lead a country when no one can stand you....i.e. Nixon.
Rubio's an unknown quantity to a lot of people, they can make him into whatever they want, so right now he has a higher ceiling as well.
Rubio was part of the Gang of 8 bills pushing the Rubio-Schumer amnesty bill. He is a tool of the Chamber of Commerce pushing increased H-1B visas. If he is the nominee, I certainly will not vote for him.
The good thing about Trump is he has broad appeal across GOP, Dems and Indies. That’s what will win the general election for him.
NOT as far out as you are....do you talk to the ‘space aliens’ often, if so, what do they say???? LMAO
I just love when people make me laugh.....
GO TRUMP GO!!!
I have always lived on the west coast....southern CA, Portland, Seattle. Maybe that had something to do with why I like Trump. He is driving a stake into the lying backstabbing GOPe. That plus he’d do something about our insane immigration and I find him difficult to resist.
64.9% ABT (anybody but Trump)
âI donât believe Donald is going to be the nominee, and I think, in time, the lionâs share of his supporters end up with us,â Cruz said in an interview with a New York talk show host.
Well he kind of has to say that if he wants to win. Of course Cruz who I personally like has no idea of what momentous event (alien abduction?) is going to occur to swing all those precious Trump votes over to him. :-)
Where did you get this figure. Could you post a link?
