Anyone who predicted last spring that donors to Texas Senator Ted Cruz's then-nascent presidential campaign were setting their money on fire is probably feeling pretty foolish right about now. Yep, that was a boneheaded move right there. In the six-plus months between Cruz's presidential announcement at Liberty University and Wednesday night's third GOP presidential debate, his campaign has been both adeptly run and increasingly lucky. About 90 days out from the February 1 Iowa caucuses, Texas' junior senator is looking good. Well, not him so much, but his campaign.
This week, especially, has been fun for Cruz. Monday, he picked up the endorsement of Texas' most powerful elected official, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, joining forces with someone who supported one of Cruz's opponents during Cruz's 2012 Senate campaign.
"Senator Cruz is the prescription for what ails the Republican Party and this country," Patrick said. "This country has been in malaise for eight years. Our party has been asleep for more than eight years."(continued)

Cruz is the smartest and most politically astute candidate in the race - by far. He’s also a true Conservative. He will continue to climb in the polls. No doubt.
Dallas Observer, eh? Well that is something.
Ted’s been getting more air time and doing very well with it.
Trump....not so much.
Would love to see Cruz debate Hillary.
I hope we get a few good drop-outs this week or in the near future:
Krispy Cream
Rue Paul
Kachump
Every low-polling candidate in the JV debate
Suckabee
Yebito!!!!
Paul has faded into pointlessness.
LOL
To quote Mark Steyn, he always looks like someone is screwing a pineapple up his backside.
i agree. Whasup with that?
Cruz owns the high spot in this one. Rubio and Fiorina haven’t really hurt themselves, but they don’t have the ‘draw’ power to win this thing.
Trump is still in the mix, very solid.
Christie needs to go, but he had a few good shots tonight.
Beats the hell outta me.
He will continue to climb in the polls. No doubt.
Great job with that Cripplecreek.
Ted Cruz had a standing ovation when he went after the MEDIA tonight - well deserved
========================================â¢================
Cruz was great on his answer about the media, but he pushed it too far and lost his chance to unload on a question (about the recent House deal w/ Obama on the debt ceiling) that was right in his wheelhouse.
Cruz got middle of the pack airtime and used it very effectively.
I forgot Bush was there for a while.
Donald Trump is at reached his peak and zenith, his peak will start to fade slowly in the next few weeks rapidly accelerating come beginning of December.
SLIP SLIDING AWAY, SLIP SLIDDING AWAY....
Sounds almost like a song ....
Enjoy the ride Trump fans because the roller coaster ride is about to get bumpy and go down hill.
Hang on to you hats guys and gals.
The Trump ride is almost over...
He is in it for Trump, he has been pulling your chain.
Says he won’t go on Fox News then changes his mind, same thing about when he said he won’t quit and is in it all the way.
Doesn’t matter. I like him. If he’s still in it by the time the nj primary happens, then I vote for him. If not, then I don’t care. Then I vote for whomever is the republican in the general.
If the republicans cared about us voters, they’d close primaries.
