The approximately 40-member House Freedom Caucus is at the center of turmoil within the Republican Party over who will be the party's effective leader in the House ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
A group of hard-line conservative Republicans would "look favorably" on Paul Ryan if he ran to be speaker of the House of Representatives, the group's leader said on Sunday.

Then force the issue. Make it clear that Ryan is not acceptable. Another will emerge.
If you accept Ryan, why should anyone stick their neck out and lead?
Pragmatism was defeated when many stayed home and thus helped Obama win.
AND the conservatives want it in writing before they vote!
Even more fun... if Boehner hangs on and tries to cross them they can still call for the vacate vote.
I understand the “hoo-rah posters” frustration but they’re missing a great story- the real story.

Go read the two Ryan Open borders stories posted on Drudge .
I would take Webster or Blackburn over him ...
Uh, no.
Why do you think I am supporting Trump in 2016? Because no other candidate is talking about deporting ALL illegals. I don’t there are more than 10 elected republicans in congress who want to deport ALL illegals. Even senator Cruz never says he will deport ALL illegals. So as far as I am concerned, they are all for some form of amnesty.
Paul Ryan is in the Amnesty boat with the rest of them. He may be the rudder man, but they are all in it, sadly.
I would take Blackburn, Webster, even Chaffetz over Ryan. But they refuse to run if Ryan accepts the job.
Ryan is not the right choice and if these people back him they are missing their last good chance to make a difference.
I am very suspicious of this report.
I agree, Ryan is Amnesty on steroids probably. But why is the 40 member conservative caucus Ok with him?
Ugh.
At this point I don’t see any point in supporting any of the fools in the GOP.
None of them are conservative, certainly none of them are conservative leaders at all.
The GOP is not the solution to America’s problems.
The GOP is a problem that needs to be solved.
I support an empty chair, as an empty chair would be far more effective in stopping Obama’s agenda than any Republican actually being in that chair.
But, if Ryan gets the gang of 8 through and helps the Democrats get a permanent majority just because his corporate rino friends want to make a quick buck off cheap labor what kind of a speaker are you going to gt on a permanent basis? Luis Gueterrez,Barbra Lee or any of the other leftists. No supporter of open borders should be elected speaker under any conditions.
“Just a notation to all of you throwing a tantrum about the possibility of Ryan as Speaker. You all do know that conservatives are not the only House members with a vote?”
Fighting back is not “throwing a tantrum”. It seems many here get goosebumps when Donald Trump does it.
Yes, the entire house votes. What’s your point? Do the democrats choose someone conservatives would like when choosing candidates for their congressional leaders? Maybe we should make like the democrats do. After all, we DO have a majority it is said.
I am sure you are fully aware, we have a majority of RINO’s in the congress. Until the majority someday is Tea Party types, the choice is limited. They will elct RINO’s over real conservatives. But I agree resistance is still necessary.
My only remaining question is is there anyone of the conservative stripe who is willing to tun for speaker and has at least a small chance to win? I asked this question to many posters and all I got was crickets.
Fully, 100%, agreed. Which is the main reason I support Trump in 2016. He is the only one who uses the words “DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS” on his web site. In my book, if you do not deport ALL illegals, it is amnesty in some form. And sadly they are all for it, the other 15 candidates, and perhaps 530/535 congress critters.
I’d respect Ryan more if he invited a few dozen illegals into his personal residence. The problem is that these guys are so insulated from the grim realities of the onslaught on America.
Why? Ryan? Why?
Ryan's support of amnesty is frightening. Also, he has stated that he does not want to be speaker. At the least the person chosen speaker should want the job. And there are several who do want it.
