The first Republican primary is months away, but in the race to see which GOP candidate could make the most of the legal battle over a Kentucky clerk's refusal to grant same-sex marriage licenses, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee emerged a winner Tuesday, thanks to the efforts of an aide to block 2016 rival Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) from joining Huckabee at Davis' side.
Both presidential candidates were present at the rally at the jail holding Kim Davis, the Rowan County Clerk. But according to a New York Times report of the day's events, a Huckabee aide physically stood in Cruz's path to Davis' side as she and Huckabee appeared in front of the media after her release from jail:
When Senator Cruz exited the jail a throng of journalists beckoned him toward their microphones, but an aide to Mr. Huckabee blocked the path of Mr. Cruz, who appeared incredulous.
Moments later, Mr. Huckabee appeared, joined by Ms. Davis. He stuck close to her side as she approached the reporters, and again when she took the stage, and cast her fight as a choice of tyranny or religious freedom....

Sorry you’re wrong.... “We” don’t need no Huckabee.
Preach it brother! (No pun intended...)
If the Huckster wanted to best advance Christian conservatism, he’d drop out and endorse Cruz.
The Huckster paid for the microphone?
Elmer had class plus he didn’t need props such as a gitfiddle. Hucklebuck best go give a trailer-park a bad name.
Got it. You are holier than dog snot.
Now, Cruz has specifically put out the most principled opposition to this woman’s situation I have seen from any candidate. Whether or not his visiting her benefits him, he has taken an unpopular position and clearly explained his reasoning for it. In the final analysis, if he didn’t push his way through the Huckabee aide to the microphones, your charge of grandstanding is specious.
Finally, I stated what your words appeared to mean to me. I did not try to tell you what your words mean to YOU. Your holiness decided I had to be upbraided in order to get “attention” from you, should I deserve it.
At least, that is what the words you wrote (as opposed to what you possibly MEANT to write) actually convey.
Just wow. You’ve been here since ‘98? If I’m doing the math right, that makes you at least 17!
(but judging by that last post, you’re not much OLDER than 17. You must have been a precocious toddler.)
Huck definitely overstepped.
(And my expressing my opinion on your manner of communication isn’t an attack. It is a response in kind! LOL)
So it's my fault you have a reading comprehension problem? Ok, got it. You're on the list of people I shall not waste my time responding to.
Thanks.
Sit down and be quiet, noob. Noobies are to be seen, not heard.
Did you read some actual quotes or statements from Cruz whining? Or are just extrapolating from the author’s commentary, someone who is probably more than happy to sow dissention among Conservatives. And as for Huckabee? Huck no!He can go back to shilling for ‘the diabetes solution kit’.
You might want to buy a dictionary, and perhaps a writing style guide to clear up that communication problem you have.
It’s funny, but your “about” page says you have issues with conservatives attacking each other. I responded in kind to your own words (and I think I do sarcasm better than you do, but everyone has an opinion), and here you attempt to insult my reading comprehension!
One might think your about page was a hypocritical statement of self-righteousness or something...
That’s the best explanation of why The Huckster kept Cruz out.
He wanted to use it as a campaign snake oil commercial.
Having Cruz in that video would not work.
That is a pretty gross headline.
And I would have rather had Cruz not race to this scene. I disagree with how meaningful that clerk’s behavior was.
Not a Huckabee supporter, but I wonder if Huck was one of the campaigns that reached out to Cruz to go to the Rally tomorrow with Trump and got turned down? Maybe payback? I don’t know.
This is the first time I've seen that particular iteration of the
notorious eponym, and it is now my favorite, by far.
They are having a rally. Anybody can “show” up.
Race?
I have read that Cruz was planning to show up BEFORE it was announced she was being let out.
I don't remember seeing anything about Huckabee showing up until the Judge decided to let her out.
