I don’t think any of the others has what it takes to win. Trump will bring out massive amounts of people who haven’t voted at all or in sometime...the others are incapable of doing this. Trump is tapping into something way bigger than himself...the silent majority...and that’s what gets my motor running.

“Later I watched every news conference of president Kennedy. He had to be the most charming and charismatic president in my lifetime, setting aside ideology.”

I agree. Kennedy was a very good speaker and relaxed in his press conferences. And a handsome man as well.

I read somewhere that Ike was the first President that the press called charismatic, probably around the time of his first election. I remember watching him in his last three years in office. For me most of the following Presidents paled by comparison

Trump has to be the overwhelming favorite in the primaries i.e. he has to win outright majorities in 8 of them for his name to be presented in nomination at the Convention. That is the new rule put in place by the RNC for Jebs benefit. The gopes have rigged the process so that Bush can get nominated with fewer primary votes than any conservative. He will get 8 majorities among the states that normally do not vote Republican in the Election. Trump, say, could get large pluralities in all the rest but not get 8 majorities because there are so many competing for the conservative votes. Beating the gopes will require thinning the Conservative herd considerably before Super Tuesday.

I think his narcissism is why he will do everything he can to fulfill his promises (along with a genuine love of America). I heard him talking the other day about how all he’s accomplished in business is nothing compared to what he’s attempting now. It’s his legacy.

What if nobody wins 8 majorities?

Then it goes to straight convention voting and the RNC superdelegates decide it if the non-Bush has a less than overwhelming majority of the votes in convention.

And this is exactly why a pledge to not run 3rd party should not be made. The super delegates have to look strait into the eye of the storm and realize that business as usual means the destruction of the party.

And, it is not just a conservative silent majority, either. Many Democrats and Independents are very upset over the past 8 years and the destruction of this great nations which has taken place. The death knell for America is ringing and people want to pull out the stops to save her and many if not most are believing that Trump has the insight and knowledge, more than anyone else, to do that.

Trump’s success is phenomenal, but in the scheme of things is nothing if this country goes down. This is a man who loves his kids and grandkids more than anything else and he want them to live in a free America. He is 70 years old and it is the usual thing for older people to begin to think about their legacy and what they will leave for the next generation. I believe with all my heart that Trump feels that way. He knows he has the power to change things if given the chance and he is plain speaking about the things which are destroying us. We hate political correctness for it is a tool of the left to shut up opposition to their nihilism. Trump doesn’t care. He doesn’t abide fools gladly and we love him for that.

He says things people want to hear....but would he be a good President? Is he the right person for the country?

Compared to what/who?

He'd be better than all the "pundits" here don't donate to any candidate or to FR.

Was taking with a fellowAmerican the other day ... We noted that these political campaigns have become industries unto themselves .... WHO benefits? Trump seems to be getting all the free press he wants, and is likely spending it in a way that does not benefit the usual players.

Who says a businessman could not be president of the United States and do a good job? The political class is who says, because they don’t want to lose out on the gravy ....

What does America do best? It’s always been business that does best ... Let’s give it a try ... Nowhere to go but up from here.

He’s much more likely to act on it than the other guys who are beholden to donors, many of whom, have agendas contrary to the will of the American people.

Which of our ‘leaders’ aren’t narcissistic? It’s sort of a prerequisite to being in politics.

If Trump went around acting like some kind of bull in a china shop when he met powerful people, he wouldn’t be as successful as he is today. Trump is a counter puncher. He’ll hit you twice as hard, but you have to initiate by hitting him first.

In my adult political life, I can’t recall ever seeing one candidate leading all the early primary states like he is. NH, IA and SC are all quite different electorates. It’s a testament to his broad appeal that he is able to lead decisively in all three.

When Bob Hope got old, he said he began forgetting to pull his zipper up. But now that he is nearing 100 he said he keeps forgetting to pull the zipper down.

It’s worse with the DNC. The Supers at the Democrat Convention can actually override any majority of the actual primary delegates.

I didn't know that, but I'm sure Trump must. That explains his decision not to agree to support the nominee or rule out a third party run if the GOPe treats him "unfairly". If he has the most delegates he can tell the superdelegates that if they give it to someone else he will go 3rd party.
