Rick Perry made a tragic mistake by coming out swinging at the billionaire businessman.

One of the moderators in one of my favorite conservative communities on Google+ (yes, it still exists) recently published a post in which she praised Rick Perrys response to Donald Trumps statements on immigration and border security, while criticizing Ted Cruz for his. Shes not the only one who believes that Republicans have to distance themselves from the successful businessman, fearing theyll alienate Hispanic voters if they dont.
Moderator Leslie P. quotes from this article by Jon Gabriel:
Perry is setting himself up as the grown-up in the race. Along with his race speech a couple weeks back, its Perry, not Trump, who is the truth-teller of 2016.
Although it might seem wise to distance oneself from Trump because of the Hispanic vote, I believe Republican candidates are making a tragic mistake when they actually do so. I like to compare The Donald to Geert Wilders, who probably is the best known Dutch politician in the rest of the world, and especially in the United States.

Despite his fame, Wilders party is relatively small and has little to no influence. This while the biggest rightist party of the Netherlands (the VVD) is in power (and actually occupies the prime ministers office). The reason Wilders is less influential than many thought he would be is simple: when election time arrived, the VVD was disturbed by Wilders anti-immigrant and anti-Islam comments, but the party also realized that many conservative and classically liberal voters shared his concerns. So what they did was simple: instead of ignoring Wilders or telling him to bugger off, they said that unlike most other politicians he had the courage to talk about certain polarizing issues that needed to be addressed. Yes, their take on them was different, but they shared his concerns and his view that immigration (from Muslim countries) had to be limited.

While Wilders was polling exceptionally well when attacked by all other parties, the VVD included, his poll numbers dropped when the VVD actually took him and his potential supporters seriously. The result? The VVD won two elections in a row.
A lot of voters who sympathize with a guy like Wilders or Trump come to their senses eventually, but only if they know that other candidates (or parties) care about them and their concerns. Alienate them too much and you may very well lose them forever at which point a few extra Hispanic voters dont matter.
Ted Cruz seems to be the only Republican candidate to understand this, which is undoubtedly one of the reasons that hes in second place fundraising wise, right behind master fundraiser Jeb Bush.
No need to attack him. Voters will tire of this huckster’s antics at start gravitating toward serious candidates. Just enjoy the entertainment.
*and start..
And, we know their loyalties. Now we KNOW who the enemy leaders are.
They better tell Trump that, he came out swinging on the day of his announcement and has been attacking everything and everyone since.
You would think these idiot candidates would stay away from attacking Trump after watching him cut up Jebester, and Donut boy, and now Little Ricky.
Don’t blame Trump for the weakness of the other GOP clowns.
Univision ran a poll that has Trump at 7% with Latinos, but Trump is suing them for half a billion $ dollars. Trump polling is likely low, but Univision likely embellished their polling. A year from now, if Trump gets 30% or more from Hispanics in a general election, I’d call that a win. Romney as I recall got 27% of their votes.
NBC ran a poll not too long ago that had Trump at 1% LoL, however that was off by about 10 times higher in Trump’s favor.
Trump did cancel his winning show with NBC. all biased motivations making polls by these two indeed suspect.
Also, the news reported his statements often highly in error.
“Trump is throwing out popular ideas. If they come out in opposition, criticizing his ideas, they show their own ideas and they can be held accountable for them.”
Indeed. Trump’s providing excellent Bait for Leftist CARP!
They’re running against him for the nomination and he’s one of the frontrunners. Of course they’re going to attack him.
Cruz is the only one who hasn’t, but the fact of the matter is that Trump’s bonafides are, at the very least, highly questionable.
Some Freepers agree with him on immigration and for that they seem willing to sacrifice everything else.
For the record: Cruz has been a conservative all his life. And he doesn’t twist with the prevailing wind.
Even worse—they plot to double the size of a group that will reliably vote for affirmative action privileges—and against the GOP.
Pill-poppin’ Perry takes on Tough-talking Trump...... Bad mistake.
Wow! The similarity between Wilders and Trump is almost unbelievable.
Start attacking the enemy who who lost to twice!!!! fools
