Ted Cruz is right on the trade deal
The Examiner ^ | June 13, 2015 | J. Maropoulakis Denney

Posted on 06/13/2015 12:40:40 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

TPA, or similar a law, has existed for decades. The recent vote in the U.S. Senate was a renewal of the TPA, and Senator Ted Cruz, perhaps the foremost constitutional conservative in the Senate, supported it because it created a process in which the president could be held accountable. TPP was never voted on in the Senate or the House, and its language has not even been finalized.

My objection, at this point, to the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) is that it is secret, and only members of congress are permitted to read it. Ted Cruz has read it, and has issues not only with the secrecy, but on other points that he intends to address in the Senate. He especially wants to insist that any trade agreement with any of our Pacific partners under the TPP will get an up or down vote in congress within 60 days.

Trade in the Pacific has become crucial, because the un-named elephant in the room is communist China, who wants to dominate the region. Some sort of TPP must be passed; there is more than free trade at stake here, national security is tied to this....

I'm embarrassed to refer anyone to FR with the way the people are acting on here toward Cruz....so I'm not doing so now until the "acid climate" changes here.

I agree about the "acid climate". If anyone dares to question my Sen Cruz' motives behind his support for this trade deal, or question the trade bills, they are called "Troll" or "Primary Troll", or worse. I just don't get it.

I won't, however, stop referring folks to FR...that would be like *spoiled kids* taking their marbles and leaving the playground, because you don't get your way.

With all the confusion by WTP on TTP TAP and the commentary from the media, the pundits, and even the elite DC establishment WTP are so confused our head could only be soothed by sticking it in sand. US/WTP either got royally knifed in the back or we have corralled a dangerous, illegal alien sitting in the oo. At the moment holding judgment until such time the ‘secret’ documents see daylight and WTP actually know what little details are written on those blank pages. So confusing - which is what the liberals do. They excel at confusing the issue —up is down, right is left, evil is good. To Sen Cruz (or any other DC elite) WTP implore you to read to us just what is on these pages so ALL of US are well aware just what road we’ve taken. Is there anyone in DC who is brave enough to tell US the truth...even once?????

Mike isn’t going to cut it for me.

But I am tired of politicians who are trying to turn the country into “Pottersville”.

That has to be a toupee. If he had his own hair he could change it.

I’m willing to give Cruz the benefit of the doubt on this. I disagree with him on this, but he’s still the best option we have.

Like those dumb chicks on a dating site who find a 6'4" guy with a nice smile, dresses well, likes walks on the beach, CEO of a company, goes to church every Sunday, plays guitar, goes to the gym every day, rapes small children, is an expert with a grill, drives a nice car, has a boat. Hey, so he has one small negative - it's not a deal breaker.

Well, apparently there is under TPP. Obama certainly thinks so.

I have no objection to a trade deal, in fact I think it MAY be a good idea depending on what is set up. However giving ANY president, much less Obama, absolute and total control over any deal just because it is “easier” is B.S. and the wrong road to go down.

So it makes Obama ‘Accountable?” Who cares? When we find out what a bad deal he has made we can point to him and say “see, he's still an idiot”. Big Deal.

That is the only way this gets fixed

Dictatorships in the Roman sense were of limited duration and only happened to fix broken government

This government is broken

Lincoln was a Dictator.

I am in agreement with your post #22.

Very well said. And succinct.

I also have supported Mr. Cruz from the beginning and continue to. But these are legitimate concerns that need to be ironed out one way or another.

Yes...according to many on here, he sold us out. This article is BS...same old establishment tripe.

Cruz is no longer Conservative. He is a traitor. He sold us out. Nevermind that this TPA was created a long time ago that gave FAST TRACK authority to then President Bush.

Ted Cruz is losing ground. He is finished. I used to like him, but he no more. BTW, did you know his wife works for Goldmann?

There, said it for the trolls.

Go CRUZ!

His wife doesn’t have a firm. She’s unemployed. Try to keep up.

Hmmm,

Didn’t the hero of many on here, you know the Draft Sessions people, give CHINA trade status under CAFTA? Did he sell us out too?

but he’s still the best option we have.

If Cruz is our best option, we are in deep trouble. Name one thing that Cruz has gotten signed into law or one thing that he lead that ended up going away like Obamacare for example. Not a thing. He is an incredible orator though. He will probably end up a very highly paid speaker to which the Clintons would only wish for.

We don’t need more free trade agreements, we need to bring businesses back to America.

Exactly. Ted needs to come out saying this, and attacking hyper-regulation and excess taxes and the importation of foreign workers. America needs to rebuild its own manufacturing base. Nothing else will do.

The effect of these Trade deals is to hurt the Middle Class and enrich a few very wealthy people.

“emotionally overwrought” - No but I am P.O’d and so is much of the country.

Did he NOT call for it to be made public or are you going to use the same tired anti-Cruz talking points? If you want to see what is in the bill so badly, ask Sessions!
