They don’t have the ability for one. Arguing in front of the Supremes, plus getting debating championships surely helps ;)
But they also don’t have the courage to take on the MSM. Like the rest of the Republicans, they think they have to cower and that will get them respect.
They’re trying to keep in the media’s good graces.
Ted goes in with the reality of “they’ll never like us/me” and tears them a new one.
In pretty short order, they will all pretend to be "just like Ted Cruz".
Because, for the first time since Reagan, we have a candidate that puts every fiber of his being toward his goal.
And, most importantly, he obviously, speaks from the heart....can't go wrong doing that.
