For Asians, it’s harder to say, when people say “Asian” they are speaking of widely diverse groups of people who don’t even share a language, or culture.

As recently as 1996, Bob Dole got a majority of Asian votes against Bill Clinton.
“What happened” is that 20 years of massive LEGAL immigration happened.
The dominant Asian voter groups are now Asian Indians (90% Democrat) and Chinese (75% Democrat).
Most Filipinos do not consider themselves to be Asian, but I think they have been the #2 largest LEGAL immigrant group for several years now, just behind Mexicans.
Filipinos vote about 55% Democrat.
The excitement that 2014 Hispanic and Asian voter polls have generated for the GOP is completely misplaced.
Conservative voters, regardless of ethnicity, have the highest voter turnout in almost every election.
Thus, whenever voter turnout is unusually low for Hispanics and Asians and Blacks, like in 2010 and 2014, that means the GOP is going to do very well.
Whenever Hispanic and Asian and Black voters turn out at unusually high rates, like in 2008 and 2012, that means the GOP will almost certainly lose.
