When I married at 16 the groom and I went to a jp, just the four of us, we brought another couple as witnesses (this was back in the age of negative Wassermans etc.). We looked like we were getting married, suit tie, dress, gloves and heels. There was an old age home next to the JP’s and as we went in there were the typical “aren’t they cute?” shouts and calls. As we left, the started shouting “Suckers! You’ll be sorry!” We cracked up laughing.
And that is how I got to sleep with the man I loved at his mother’s summer home that night. Surprised them all, we did.
