Scott Walker’s changing views a potential drag on candidacy
The Boston Globe ^ | April 7, 2015 | Matt Viser

Scott Walker was in favor of a legal pathway for illegal immigrants, then he was against it. And then he was for it again. Maybe.

On so-called Common Core national education standards? He once touted them, now wants to repeal them. On federal ethanol mandates cherished by farmers, particularly in Iowa? Once opposed to them, he now embraces them. His record of shifting stances also applies to abortion, and “right to work” legislation that makes it harder for workers to unionize.

As the Wisconsin governor continues to consider running for president, he appears to be following the playbook of Mitt Romney in 2008: adopt positions that are more conservative than your record, in an attempt to appeal to the Republican base. But the strategy is raising questions about his core convictions, and threatens to take him out of the top tier of candidates in the crucial early-voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire.

“These flip flops or kind of maneuvering on issues has put an end to the Scott Walker honeymoon in Iowa,” said Craig Robinson, a former political director of the Iowa Republican Party who now runs the influential website the Iowa Republican. “The thing is, people are looking for consistency and when they look at Walker they’re not getting that today.’’(continued)

the “republican” cited by the dripping liberal rag was a paulbot in 2012, which means he’s probably a paulbot today, too. In a week, he’ll be trashing someone’s sacred cow, and the people citing him today will be trashing the sh!t out of him.

it’s par for the course at FR during nomination season. hysteria, accusations, recriminations, etc, etc.

I agree . Good synopsis.

The liberal news media instigates the infighting among conservatives so that liberal Jeb Bush will be the nominee. Notice the news media has no hit jobs against Jeb Bush but against Walker every second. Walker is who the media fear like they feared Sarah Palin

Has anyone else noticed that Fox News has appeared to have given up on their Jeb Bush advocacy, and now appear to be pushing Walker? I guess that is a slight move to the right.

Damn, still waiting for a politician who says what he believes and believes what he says - no changes! Probably not going to happen in my lifetime though! Damn politicians... I had high hopes for Walker due to his actual accomplishments with the unions.

I had to look it up, as “The No Child Left Behind Act” sounded good at the time, as it meant standards had to be met. It was pushed and signed by Bush in 2001. But now it has morphed into a liberal bunch of crap. And now even lots of teachers hate it as they are just teaching to the test. Below is from Wiki (I know!)

*************************

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB)[1][2] is a United States Act of Congress that is a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, which included Title I, the government’s flagship aid program for disadvantaged students.[3] NCLB supports standards-based education reform based on the premise that setting high standards and establishing measurable goals can improve individual outcomes in education.

The Act requires states to develop assessments in basic skills. To receive federal school funding, states must give these assessments to all students at select grade levels. The Act does not assert a national achievement standard. Each individual state develops its own standards.[4] NCLB expanded the federal role in public education through annual testing, annual academic progress, report cards, teacher qualifications, and funding changes.[3]

The bill passed in the U.S. Congress with bipartisan support.[5]

I agree.

Walker is one of the good guys.

That and that alone, is why he is being attacked.

This article is from the liberal news media (the enemy of individual liberty) . The liberal news media keep attacking Walker unfairly in an attempt to do to him what they did to Sarah Palin.

Don’t look at articles from the news media look at Walker’s actions to see who he is. Walker hasn’t done anything for illegals. But Scott Walker has cut taxes, balanced the budget and passed conservative laws as governor of Wisconsin. Walker has defeated democrats/leftists many times to get conservative laws passed, lower taxes, balance the budget etc. Scott Walker's record as governor is unmatched by any one even Reagan. So the liberal news media write many articles saying what someone said Walker said or whatever on issues that he's taken no action on and then conservatives abandon him as the news media intended.

Results, Actions are what matter. Words mean nothing and especially those from the liberal news media like the boston globe and ny times. Why is a boston newspaper attacking someone who may run from Wisconsin ? The liberal news media tell us who they fear as that is who they libel, smear and unfairly attack and lie against. the news media is your enemy and the enemy of freedom

You are right. Scott Walker has done some good things as governor. I just think that with his wavering stands on some national issues, he should stay in Wisconsin. In order to lead the nation, you have to have a clear vision of where you want to go and how to get there. On a national level, I don’t think he has that vision.

I don’t mind if he flips but I hate it when he punts. He’ll never compare with Pat Summerall.

I totally understand but also know that facts are stubborn things and they apply to all. I don’t care what the media says, I do care about the candidate and their statements to said media over the years.

You go ahead and tell me who has a better RECORD of passing conservative laws, defeating democrats by passing conservative laws, winning multiple elections against the democrats/media complex than Scot Walker. Walker's RECORD as governor , his actions and results of passing conservative laws and defeating the media and democrats show who he is a conservative governor who can get things done. NO one that i’ve seen running has beaten the media nor democrats. no one in history can match Walker's record on this and he's only been governor a short time. Look up his record and stop listening to liberal news media brainwashing.

here put up Walker's record and match it to others:
