Only in a liberal mind can asking someone to pledge allegiance to the USA be offensive. The letters published by the Dallas Morning News were all from people who thought that it was just horrible. DMN always publishes lefty letters.
The comments quoted in the material do not indicate welcoming Muslims unless they are willing to openly renounce Muslim terrorists and terrorism. His backing of the legislator who did that seems to point in that direction. It does not seem to quite reflect the headline.
