To hell with the independents. Thats not usually the animating principle of a presidential campaign, but for Ted Cruzs, it just might be.
His strategists arent planning to make a big play for so-called independent voters in the general election if Cruz wins the Republican nomination. According to several of the senators top advisers, Cruz sees a path to victory that relies instead on increasing conservative turnout; attracting votes from groups including Jews, Hispanics, and Millennials that have tended to favor Democrats; and, in the words of one Cruz strategist, not getting killed with independents.
Twenty-three months from the presidential election, it seems all but a given that the freshman senator, who has been in Congress just two years, will mount a bid for the White House...

I tend to put them in the “I’m-really-a-liberal-who-doesn’t-care-until-the-commies-raise-my-taxes-and-cost-of-living” category.

"the Republican nomination"
I can't think of anything good coming from the Republican "inside" group that shuns Sarah Palin.

Who do you work for? Huckabee? Jeb? Romney?

Rupert Murdoch is a big Hillary donor. He will make sure Fox slants everything to boost Jeb Bush as the GOP candidate because he will be easy for Hillary to beat.
To: 2ndDivisionVet
I really doubt the elites will allow Cruz to get the nomination. They have their own candidates in play.

This independent is a rock hard conservative that cant stand the establishment GOP. I doubt if I am alone.

Cruz is a political opportunist with a white silk tie. Enough said! What kind of tie should he be wearing?

This independent is a rock hard conservative that cant stand the establishment GOP. I doubt if I am alone. That's not the kind of "independent" this approach is talking about, though. You'd be part of the "base", even if you're not GOP.

Reagan was a true conservative. Cruz is a political opportunist with a white silk tie. Enough said!Aw, c'mon say some more. Who would YOU rather see as the nominee?

Real Independents are Democrat voters who want the Republicans to run as
Democrats so then they can just vote Democrat because Republicans are no different.

This is actually the greatest strategy. These so called independents ARE the sheep. They believe whatever you tell them but they MOSTLY have conservative values. Tell them the conservative message WITH conviction and passion and they will vote for Cruz en masse.

Hey Jack,
if the votes are to many they cannot steal any election through the court.
The same applies with support for any candidate, if there "is" to much support
they cannot fix the election. Hillary and Obama comes to mind. Obama kicked her ass
and he was not entitled to anything, he was not the chosen one until the numbers came out.
Also,
Conservatism applies to all, most choose to ignore their own principals.
It takes word-smithing to bring people out of that shell.
How will the MSM treats his ethnic background will be interesting to hear.

As an Independant, I disagree with Fox.
Ordinary working class Republicans, Independants and Democrats have been abandoned and are being abused by the Elites of both parties and these voters from across the political spectrum who have been the backbone of America are fed up and looking for a politician who speaks for them
There are two on the national scene - Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin and one who is below the radar screen in Wisconsin - Scott Walker.

Right...The problems of America and the issues are so clear cut that the whole idea of a person calling him/herself ‘Independent’ is laughable.
‘Independent’. Really?
No one in their right mind ISN’T real clear about their position by NOW.
