Former Massachusetts Governor and failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney is not yet ready to relinquish his title as the head of the pale-pastels establishment wing of the Republican Party to former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
"A senior Republican who has met with Mitt Romney" tells Politico that Romney is telling donors on Wall Street "not to commit to a candidate that is not their first choice and that they arent excited about. He does not think much of the current field and does not think it is jelling. He still views himself as the leader of the establishment wing of the Republican Party."
Romney also reportedly "does not feel he owes the Bushes anything and does not think Jeb is the defacto leader of the establishment GOP."
Its definitely a change in his message [tilted more toward running]," the Republican said.
Romney, who leads the potential 2016 field in a CNN poll and has led in New Hampshire polls, has indicated that he would not run again unless most of the candidates urged him to do so....

Cruz/Palin 2016!
I love the idea, but it will never happen.
I remember, it tormented and confused me as a teen and young man, I could not figure out why they were like they were, they would get into office and wouldn't stop anything or erase anything.
Nothing has changed in my lifetime except for seeing individual bright lights like Reagan, Helms, Gingrich when he made history in 94, Palin, Cruz today.
I do get the feeling that Palin was the start of something new, she came along at the right time, and since her we have the tea party and lots of conservatives sprinkled around in state and federal offices, and now a Cruz. Today we are in a real and open war with the GOPe, and we stand a fighting chance.
Like Kutuzov in War and Peace, I look at the players we have in the GOP right now, and while I see the GOPe declaring victory and seeming to be correct on the surface, I look at the players expressions and confidence and the conservatives seem to have the glow of success on them, while the GOPe leaders seem stressed and uneasy, as though they are off stride and have internal doubts.
Excellent advice, although I'm not sure he'll like how it might work out.
The GOPe doesn’t really pick candidates - registered Repubs do. We need lots of RINO’s to run (and split their support) against one real conservative - Hopefully Cruz.
Candidates like Huckabee, Santorum et. al. need to stay home.
I want a social conservative but the focus of the campaign has to be on the economy, illegal immigration, ACA, the deficit and foreign policy.
In this case, a rose by any other is still a clown.
I really don't care what he wants to call himself as long as he doesn't run again and makes his pronouncements in private.
In this case, a rose by any other name is still a clown.
He should have a big party of “establishment” republicans on a boat.
And then sink the boat.
Shouldn’t we be getting our Ted Cruz for President 2016 bumper stickers printed up?
If Mitt Redo Romney or Jeb (Slick’s brother, too) ends up as the nominee, I will just hang out at the beach more, go on our boat and live a little bit before everything hits the brick wall. These people are just patricians. I just don’t see things changing for the better because of the corruption.
Mitt, Ted, anyone whos running for the White House. You need to tell us what you are going to do! What’s your agenda? Where do you think you can go to bring back jobs and I what real ideas—not feel good words that mean nothing. What is your plan? What do you want done—NOW. What will you do one day one of your presidency? What will you do to change things for the better. I want more than just kill PBS-—and raise the military. Don’t just say “secure the border” I want to know how high will the walls be and how close will the guard towers be! I want to know how are you going to fix immigration—who gets citizenship and how. (and who will not). And when elected—I want you to hit the ground running—a cabinate put in place the first week. New, bold ideas to set before Congress to get people working. You may have some great ideas we haven’t heard from—but you must excite the people even if the media hates these plans. Might I suggest—Finish the Crazy Horse Monument! A day to honor Native Americans, build a sailing ship for the US Navy Cadets—a Tall Ship. We need a presidental Yacht too—Now more than ever. Restore the railroad lines so we can put some highspeed trains up! Lets drop the blocade of Cuba-—It didn’t work! A million American Tourists could bring an end to their Communist ideals. I bet you can come up with some better ones than I can.
Correcto....all of need to remember that NOT ONE political consultant/poller/newscaster called the electon of 2014!!! No one measured the feelings of the public(us) but the GOPe is trying to take credit for the sweeping results...BS.
A key remionder to the GOPe is the lack of money from Republican voters...donations were/are waaaaaaaaaaay off.
Rs won because of the RATS not becuse of their stellar performances!
I honestly think we will do great in the next election if we can narrow the field with “our” side and let the GOPe slimes push the RINOs into running for prez.
I think some of your ideas is great.
There is even talk of a Graham candidacy. McCain, for one, is pushing it.
