Cruz has serious Ivy League credentials, and the Democrat would probably suffer badly in the comparison.

I favor nominating a successful governor such as Walker of Wisconsin, for the simple reason that senators aren’t executives, and governors are.

As a campaigner and a strong debater, Cruz would be great as a VP candidate - and he would be a fine potential SCOTUS nominee after a win.

If you nominate a senator and the Dems nominate a governor, you could find yourself in trouble - the last (only) senator to win against a governor was Warren G. Harding, in the wave election of 1920.
