I just remembered that I voted for McGovern in 1972. So...there's lots of hope.

I had just turned 18, and was able to cast my very first vote the year McGovern ran against Nixon. Naturally, folks in our age group hated Nixon with a passion, and our young skulls were too full of mush to know better.
Took me a while, but I eventually escaped the Dems mind control plantation. Yep - there's hope alright.
I campaigned for him: stood outside a Delco PA polling place on primary day, next to a Archie-Bunker union type who was stumping for Hubert Horatio Hornblower, as he was referred to by a future President. Come a LONG way, baby.

Me too. Idealism of youth. First time to vote, because you had to be 21 until then.
I have never voted for a democrat for any office, since then.
You too? My first vote, and only one ever for a democrat. Recently back from RVN, and still pissed how the politicians micromanaged the war and got so many of us butchered for nothing.
