I've known people who think "separation of church and state" is explicitly spelled out in the First Amendment.

I say: "Have you read the First Amendment?"

They say: "Oh, it's there."

And you cannot "win" an argument with such people. They merely pity you for your continued stupidity in the face of their wisdom. They're Leftists. They can say anything.

During the Clinton impeachment fiasco, an acquaintance starkly insisted that impeachment removes a person from office. I tried in vain to tell him impeachment is just the bringing of charges, the Senate must vote to convict and remove him from office. He was stone deaf adamant and would not budge. Nothing I said mattered. There are a lot of low information people out there, a sad commentary on our society.
