What if Roberts retires within a year of the election and the Gov appoints a young conservative to hold the seat in the interim?
Apparently Sarah sees this possibility.. and gets to tell the GOPe: YOU LOSE. First by having to call me in, second by a real conservative replacing your boy.

What if Roberts retires within a year of the election and the Gov appoints a young conservative to hold the seat in the interim? Two problems with that. A) there is no reason to believe that Roberts would do that, and B) Brownback's got his own problems and is no shoe-in for re-election.
