Sarah Palin To Campaign for Pat Roberts in Kansas Amid Lingering Grassroots Anger
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | September 23, 2014 | Michael Patrick Leahy

Posted on 09/24/2014 12:42:53 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Sarah Palin will campaign for incumbent Republican Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) in Independence, Kansas on Thursday. Roberts is in need of help from the Tea Party favorite, as recent polls show he trails independent Greg Orman in this fall's general election.

Last week, the Kansas State Supreme Court granted Democratic nominee Chad Taylor's request to be removed from the ballot, setting up a two-person race between Roberts and Orman.

Roberts defeated Tea Party challenger Dr. Milton Wolf in the August 5 Republican primary by a relatively narrow margin of 47% to 41% in a bitterly personal contest that left many grassroots activists in Kansas disgusted with the heavy handed tactics of the Republican establishment. Roberts was hurt by Wolf's attacks on his residency claims, a weakness that may have sparked the strange turn of events that led to the withdrawal of Taylor and the rise in the polls of Orman.

The question is how far Palin's appearance in Kansas on behalf of Roberts will go to bring the embittered grassroots back to the Republican side....

Right you are. The inability to counter the truth brings out desperation and frustration.

From another thread:

My comment: Progressives/Liberals are extremely totalitarian.

Response from a member of the “club”:

“True, but at least they are not RINOS, so they’ve got that going for them”.

I love Sarah and I am terribly disappointed that she is campaigning for Roberts. But, to be honest with you, this will change nothing. This election is a referendum on Pat Roberts. The most people who love him or loathe him will determine the winner in this contest. If more people loathe him; he loses. I more people love him; he wins. Let Sarah and Bob Dole campaign for him. People’s minds are made up. Roberts is tallying 38 percent in the latest poll. That’s anathema for a long-time incumbent. Sarah needs to keep herself in the spotlight and probably needs the money they’re paying her. No problem; Roberts dude is T-O-A-S-T!

THEY have to avoid cutting off their noses to spite their face by inviting Sarah in.

Their tears taste sweet.

Yeah; the GOP Establishment loathed her during the ‘08 Election. They did not stand up for her when the media was defining her as an air-head buffoon. Now that Pat Robert’s old, wrinkled butt is in trouble, they want Sarah. I love seeing them grovel.

Roberts secured less than 50% of the vote of his party.

And the latest poll for the General Election, that I saw yesterday, has him at 38 percent. Pitiful; freakin’ pitiful.

I support the Senate Conservatives Fund!

I appreciate the SCF and all they’ve done, but, why are they NOT supporting Joni Ernst in the General Election like they did in the Primary? They have not given her a penny for the General Election. I’m not mad at them; just wondering.

I love the “conservatives” who want Orman to win and hand the Senate to Harry Reid and Obama. Cuz, you know, that will teach those RINOS a lesson. LOL!

It sure as hell will. It will teach them that you can abuse, degrade and threaten your Conservative Base all you want to, but do so at your own peril. My daddy used to say: "You can only kick an old dog so long before he rises up and bites you."

One good thing about Sarah coming, it is driving the libtards insane on local message boards.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I’m surprised you say that’s a good thing. It sounds like to me she is firing up the Liberal voting base to be even more intense about defeating Roberts. Just sayin’

Could you give us a short summary of the specificat Roberts transgressions?
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Let me just give you one; the one that is going to send him packing. He has not lived in Kansas since his kids were in Elementary School. His entire family lives, works and pays taxes in Virginia. By his own admission (it’s on video) he only comes to Kansas when he has an opponent. If he is reelected this time (which isn’t going to happen.) he will never set foot in Kansas again. Why should he; he has nothing, and I do mean “nothing” there. And FWIW, those Heritage and ACU Ratings can be, and often are, manipulated.

The best way to represent one’s state is to vote for the things that help the entire country which is what Roberts does.

As conservatives, we should be focusing on ideas and not the soap opera of who is doing what to who.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Well, I hate to tell you this my friend, but most people don’t give a rat’s ass about ideas and issues. The 47 percent that Mitt Romney spoke of, would not care if there was a video of Barack Obama in bed with a dead girl or a live boy, they’d still vote for him. Why? One word: Entitlements! Entitled to Welfare, Entitled to Food Stamps, Entitled to Obama phones, entitled to the right to marry their same-sex partner, entitled to kill their babies in their wombs. They don’t give a crap about ideas and issues such as National Security and the National Debt. That leaves 53 percent left over for the Dems and the Pubbies to fight over. The majority of those are “personality” voters; and the Pubbies lose this one everytime. The Dems nominate a young, vibrant, cool, Black dude for Prez. The Pubbies nominate one of their tired, old, white farts who has no personality, zeal or convictions; it’s just his turn. Well.... the rest is history.

I wonder what the comments look like over on Orman’s FB page. Must be melting like witches with water thrown on them.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

So many comments on here I can’t do a verbatim on what he said, but, one FReeper said earlier (I think somewhere in the first 50 posted comments) that the Libs are going ballistic in the local chat rooms and it sounded like Sarah’s visit is firing them up to be even more intense in defeating Roberts. Who knows?

I hate having to always respond to threads about my state. But while Dr. Wolf was great, Roberts is conservative and while he has his issues he isn’t a rino and the left is trying to get Orman over the line. So I sense if Orman and that loon Paul Davis win, my state is going to be like Colorado or Virgina or something to that effect.

Palin is smart and gets it. She has come to my way of seeing it. The dems are supporting Orman because he favors some progressive policies and is a way to knock off the GOP. it is more important than just that the democrat Chad Taylor resigned and is off the ballot, but that he and other democrats endorsed Greg Orman after that. So Orman is basically a Democrat.

I just don’t see what the GOP wins by losing a Conservative vote like Roberts. it would be like Wyoming’s Mike Enzi losing to an Independent Progressive. So one has to get Pat Roberts over the line.

Unless you love turning solid Republican states into a Democrat hell hole and sliding the country toward a civil war of some sort.

The more I learn of Orman, the more there is to dislike. He was paid off by the left. This is there effort to fight back against the Conservative base of the Kansas GOP. They would have done the same thing anyways if Dr. Wolf had won.
